POWER PACK MANUAL INSTALL for disks 1 through 5 Note: The following instructions require you to be able to use basic DOS and Windows commands and text editors. If you are not familiar with using these commands or editors, please refer to your DOS and Windows User's Guides for further information. I. Enter the following at the C:\ prompt to create four directories: 1. MD POWERPAK 2. CD POWERPAK 3. MD MONO16 4. MD MIDISOFT 5. MD QUIKTOUR II. Copy Install disks to appropriate directories. Assuming drive A: is your source disk, use the format " COPY A:\*.* C:\DIRECTORY", where "C:\DIRECTORY" is the path to your application. 1. COPY DISK 1 TO C:\POWERPAK 2. COPY DISK 2 TO C:\POWERPAK\MONO16 3. Put DISK 3 in drive A: (or B: as applicable), and type the following: (Note: Enter the following two lines as ONE line, leaving a space between them. If installing from B:\, use "B:\" in the place of "A:\") COPY /B C:\POWERPAK\MONO16\FB_22K16.DLL + A:\FB_22K16.DLL C:\POWERPAK\MONO16\FB_22K16.DLL 4. COPY DISK 4 TO C:\POWERPAK\MIDISOFT 5. COPY DISK 5 TO C:\POWERPAK\QUIKTOUR III. Expand compressed files as needed. 1. Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT and add " ;C:\POWERPAK " to the end of the PATH line 2. Re-boot your computer 3. From the POWERPAK directory type LHARC X PROGRAMS and [ENTER] 4. From the MIDISOFT directory type LHARC X MIDISOFT and [ENTER] 5. From the QUIKTOUR directory type LHARC X MVPOWER and [ENTER] IV. Setting up the Drivers (Note: If you do not have the original Pro AudioSpectrum installation disks, you may wish to copy the following drivers to a backup directory: a) From the PROAUDIO (or other directory containing your Media Vision DOS utilities) copy MVSOUND.SYS, PREC.EXE, PKCD.EXE, PMIX.EXE, and PROMIX.EXE to the backup directory. b) From the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, copy MVMIXER.DRV, MVPROAUD.DRV, OPL3.DRV and MMMIXER.DLL to the backup directory. 1. From the POWERPAK directory type the following: COPY MMMIXER.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM then [ENTER] COPY *.DRV C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM then [ENTER] COPY MVSOUND.SYS C:\PROAUDIO then [ENTER] (Note: C:\PROAUDIO is the default directory for many Media Vision products. Your product may be installed in a different directory. The destination path should refer to that in which your Media Vision utilities are installed) V. Setting up Windows Applications 1. From the Windows Program Manager use the File/New menu selection to create the POWER PACK Program GROUP. 2. From the Windows Program Manager use the File/New menu selection to crate the new Program ITEM for MONOLOGUE (MONO_16.EXE), DICTIONARY MANAGER (DICTMGR.EXE), MIDISOFT RECORDING SESSION (SESSION.EXE) and QUICK TOUR (MVPOWER.EXE), from their respective directories, and POCKET RECORDER (PREC.EXE), POCKET CD (PKCD.EXE), PRO MIXER (PROMIX.EXE), POCKET MIXER (PMIX.EXE), and the UPDATE document (UPDATE.WRI) from the POWERPAK directory. This will create icons for the above applications. VI. Alternate Monologue install for DOS If you need to access Monologue in DOS, an 8-bit DOS version is supplies on your Power Pack Installation Disk 1. To install this version, you will need a formatted 720 K, or high density 5¼" or 3½" disk. 1. Copy MONO8.LZH to your POWERPAK directory 2. Put the blank, formatted disk in the appropriate drive 3. From the DOS prompt in the POWERPAK directory (C:\POWERPAK), type LHARC X MONO8 A:\ (or B:\ if your blank disk is in that drive) 4. You can now run INSTALL from the floppy drive. VII. To save space on your hard drive, you may wish to delete all the files whth .LZH extensions. To do this, type DEL *.LZH from each of the above directories.
