Welcome to the exciting world of sound brought to you by Media Vision and Windows NT. Windows NT is not very different than Windows 3.1, and most of the techniques will be the same with several small modifications. First, and one of the main differences you will notice, is that there is no SYSTEM.INI or WIN.INI. So you must use the CONTROL PANEL for your install & changes to the drivers. INSTALLATION of MEDIA VISION PROAUDIO DRIVERS into WINDOWS NT After installing Windows NT on your system follow the steps below to install our drivers and get sound from your system. 1. Go to the MAIN GROUP and select CONTROL PANEL. and then select the DRIVERS applet. 2. Then select ADD 3. Pickup "Media Vision ProAudio Spectrum 16" driver, and select "OK" 4. Next, if the CD ROM is not in the driver, Windows NT will prompt you for where the drivers are loaded. Enter 'cd-drive:\i386',and select "OK" 5. Next, you will be prompted for the DMA, IRQ & SCSI IRQ. Select these the same as you would normally except that the SCSI IRQ MUST be different than the ProAudio Sound IRQ! If you encounter a conflict, you will have the 'LOOPING' problems as with Windows 3.1 except it will stop after several seconds. 6. Verify that the Installed Drivers include the following; Media Vision OPL3 FM Synthesizer Media Vision ProAudio Spectruim 16 Then select CLOSE 7. Don't Select Restart Now (this will just save you a few seconds) 8. Close out the DRIVERS applet, and open up the MIDI MAPPER applet. 9. Select MVI OPL3. 10. Select CLOSE (If you did not restart in step 7, you may get an Error stating that this is a unsupported MIDI device) 11. Restart Windows 12. ENJOY! WINDOWS NT Q&A 1. Q: How come when I try to play CD, I can't hear it? A: The MIXERS for Windows NT are different that Windows 3.1, and there is not a CD-Audio Channel to adjust. The default value is set to about 8%. FIX: Temporary fix is to use a 1/8" to 1/8" mini phono cable from the front (headphones) jack on the CD to the Line In on our board. A patch should be avail to Down load from the BBS pretty quickly after the release of Windows NT. 2. Q: Do you support Windows NT? or Where do I get the drivers for Windows NT? A: The Drivers for Windows NT are supplied with Windows NT. 3. Q: Will my other Window 3.1 applications work in Windows NT? A: Maybe, maybe not. The Media Vision Mixers will not work. The Pocket Recorder seems to work fine as well as the Pocket CD. A list of tested software will be supplied shortly. MEDIA VISION PROAUDIO / WINDOWS NT INSTALL PROCEDURE
