MAIL ==== Syntax: MAIL [-s subject] recipient ... MAIL [-f mailboxfile] MAIL serves to purposes: to send mail, and to read mail. It is not yet finished, but can come in quite handy even in this early stage. You don't need it, though; you can use GUS for nearly everything it does. Sending mail ------------ Use the first syntax to send mail. You will be prompted for a subject (even when you specify one, it will then be the default) and put into the system editor (in fact, MMAIL will be run). Reading mail ------------ Use the second syntax. If you omit the -f option, your incoming mailbox ($MAILDIR\$LOGNAME) will be used. After the mailbox file has been read, you will see an info line about the least recently sent message and a prompt. Press the following keys (not case significant) to read your mail and move around in your mailbox: '-': go back one message '+': go forward one message 'd': delete the current message and go forward one message 'h': show a screenful of info lines, starting with the current message 'u': undelete the current message ' ': view the next unread message, or close mailbox if no more unread messages remain at or after the current message '\r': view the current message 'r': reply to the current message. This IS case-significant: The message will be quoted if you use 'R' rather than 'r'. 'x': close mailbox, abandoning any changes you may have made 'q': close mailbox, incorporating changes Mailbox locked --------------
