HandyWipe -- by John Eidsvoog Public Domain 08/12/88 Included: HNDYWIPE.PRG - the program HNDYWIPE.S - source code (MadMac) HNDYWIPE.TXT - this file HandyWipe when run from the AUTO folder of a floppy in drive A, will continue doing cold resets until your hard disk auto boot driver takes over. This allows you to turn on power to all devices at the same time. It works fine on my system (Mega4, ICD boot, Adaptec host adapter, Seagate drive) but for some reason the timing is not right on some of the other systems I've tried. In this case, you'll end up with a default 'floppy' desktop (only icons A and B) and you'll have to press the reset button. When you run HandyWipe from the desktop it allows you to do a cold boot. Hmmm..., didn't Tom Hudson just get paid for doing a program like this for a magazine? I've decided to release this program even though it may not auto-boot everyone's system. Also included is the 68000 assembly source code (MadMac format). Of possible interest is the technique used to detect whether it's been run from the desktop. The initial alert box call will not show on the screen and will return a zero _if_ you are running from the AUTO folder. Thanks to Charles F. Johnson for this trick! Maybe all that is needed to time properly on other systems is a pause routine. Have fun! P.S. G+PLUS POWER TO THE PEOPLE !!!
