This is one of four files in the GENIE ST Roundtable section. All files together list as follows: AESPROGS.ARC, AES executable programs AESSOURC.ARC, C source codes for the AES programs VDIPROGS.ARC, VDI executable programs VDISOURC.ARC, C source codes for the VDI programs. (all files are coutesy of BANTAM Books, Inc., all rights reserved). Where does all this stuff come from and what is it all about? Well, I like to program my ST in C, but there is only limited literature in the bookstores. Up till one day, when i found a new book published by BANTAM Computer Books: ATARI ST Application Programming. This book is really hot. It covers in detail many angles of ST programming in C with lots of examples and very good explanations of the listed source codes. It really helped me a great deal in writing standard ST Application programs in a very short time, as well as understanding the inner secrets of GEM. The only drag was, that the many programs listed in the books did not come also on a disk, to avoid typing and errors. So i called BANTAM in New York and asked if they intend to publish a disk with all the source codes as well. They were very friendly, checked out the possibilities and called me back with a: "sorry, no intention at BANTAM to distribute the disk". So i asked them if I could, for personal use, have the codes on a disk and they promptly mailed it to me! This all happened sometime in the beginning of 88. Since then I have regretted that I am the only one who can make use of all the goodies and I bugged BANTAM if they could at least allow me to put the code on GENIE, so everybody can enjoy it. So here it is, all you need as a companion for the best book (my personal opinion and the one of many others) published about the ST and writing in C. By the way, if you are looking for a full fledged, professional compiler with an outstanding manual, try Mark Williams C, an excellent product!
