1. Installation
---------------

In contrast to the commercial version, the TwiLight demo version has to be
installed by copying certain files to your harddisk.

TwiLight consists of three parts: a loader for the AUTO folder
(AUTO_TL.PRG), an accessory (TWILIGHT.ACC) and the module folder containing
the modules themselves (\TLM\*.TLM).

You have to copy AUTO_TL.PRG into the AUTO folder of your boot drive
(usually C:\AUTO), the module folder can be placed anywhere you like,
TwiLight will ask for the path when started for the first time.

The accessory may be renamed to TWILIGHT.APP, and then modules will only
work in demonstration mode.

After having copied all files, please reboot your computer to activate
TwiLight.

The directory TL_SOUND contains some samples you can use as a wake up bell.

2. Features
-----------

- Coloured sprites and animations are converted to the number of colours
your video hardware is able to display automatically.

- TwiLight saves the screen with modules, even in programs like
GFA-Bugsick, Signum!3 or Pure Pascal that do not use GEM.

- The screen border is darkened, even in the Falcon's true color mode on
RGB monitors.

- Interactive modules are possible, like the included PONG module.

- Modules can change frequently, in order or random order.

- Graphic and port checks: TwiLight allows to supress or let pass graphic
outputs from the main application. It's possible to set up these options
for graphics, dialog boxes and text separately.

- Adjustable processor time usage.

- Samples are played even on normal STs without DMA sound abilities.

- TwiLight supports the MOD-file player Paula.

- Password protection with protocol file

- Wake & sleep corners, hotkey feature.

- About 90 kilobytes of English manual, including detailed instructions on
how to program your own modules.

- TwiLight provides highly flexible routines for your own modules,
including a complete sprite engine, featuring collision check, dithering
etc.

- TwiLight runs with all common graphic cards under any resolution.

- TwiLight supports the XSSI cookie (in fact, TwiLight was the first
screensaver to support this cookie... ;-))

- TwiLight is 100% assembler code and therefore very short.

3. Restrictions of the demo version
-----------------------------------

In contrast to the commercial version, the demo version has the following
restrictions:

- Screensaving is aborted after 90 seconds.

- Preferences can not be saved.

- The commercial version includes an installation program.

- The commercial version includes a 90 kilobytes long English manual as
well.

- From time to time, an alert box will remind you that you are using the
TwiLight demo version.

4. General operationg
---------------------

This is only a short introduction. Detailed explanations can be found in
the manual featured in the commercial version.

Modules are selected by clicking on their entries in the module list. More
than one module can be selected by holding down [Shift] while clicking on
these entries, just like in the desktop.

Depending on the chosen options in the "Miscellaneous..." menu, these
modules will run in order or random order.

Doubleclicking on a module entry will cause the module configuration to
appear. You may change the module's setup here and watch it in
demonstration mode.

The menus "Graphic checks..." and "Port checks..." allow to choose when
TwiLight should wake up. TwiLight can react on graphic outputs from running
programmes: It's possible to supress all graphic outputs (so blinking
cursors will no longer be seen), let them pass (they will mix with
TwiLight's animations) or make them wake up TwiLight.

The same is possible for dialog boxes. The best setup here is "wake up",
otherwise important alert boxes may not be recognized.

The menu "Sound while saving..." allows you to switch the modules'
soundeffects on or off. To play MOD-files, Paula has to be installed.

"Wake up bell..." allows to chose a sample to play when TwiLight wakes up.
You may use any 8 bit sample here.

The password protection is not able to create a protocol file, and it won't
be active after a reset in the demo version. The pre-installed password is
"TWILIGHT".

Delirium Arts wishes you a nice day.
