How do you move around on the screen?

        Move from one command to the next with the mouse, the Tab
        key, the arrow keys, or by typing the highlighted letter
        of each command. Back out one command level by pressing
        the ESCape key or F10.

Is there any Help in the program?

        Yes, hold the Alt key down for a list of Hotkeys.  These
        will get you to Notepad, Save, Quit, and TagList with one
        key stroke. In Description, Hardware or Notepad you can
        press the F1 key to display a list of editor commands for
        manipulating text. Also, the message box on the bottom of
        the screen has commands for the specific screen you are
        on.

Do the messages on the bottom of the screen have to display?

        The message box is controlled by the Help Level selection
        under MiscStuff.  You can turn it ON/OFF at will. When
        the Help Level is turned off, the Date and Time will
        display in the message box.

How do I use File Finder?

        File Finder allows you to bring text files into Notepad,
        Description and Hardware.  In the File Finder window
        enter *.* to display a list of files in the directory you
        are logged on with. If you want a different directory,
        have the highlighted bar on the '..' at the top of the
        file list and press enter. This will move up one
        directory level.  You can then select another directory
        or select a file. If you know the directory string to a
        text file, you can enter it is the File Finder window and
        CatMan will go right to it.

How do I print a listing.

        To print a listing by file name follow these steps: from
        Listings, select Export in the Export windows, select any
        of the options, Program Name, File Name, Label Name, or
        Search List enter the file name for the report

        CatMan displays all the file names as it writes them to
        the text file. When completed, a message appears on
        screen, press any key to clear the message.  You may now
        send that file to your printer.  If you select the
        SearchList option, you must have run a SearchList first
        or an error message appears indicating the Search List is
        empty.

How do I enter a file without Bulk Load?

        Under Files on the top menu bar, select New.  Press 'f'
        to enter the File Name section, 'h' to enter the Hardware
        section, and 'd' the Description. When completed, press
        's' to Save the information. The only required items are
        the file name and package name fields.

What is the Package Name?

        When you walk into a store and ask the clerk for a
        software package, you ask for Word, or Windows, or
        CatMan-DO!. That is the Package Name.  It is used to
        identify your files.  When using the Bulk Load options,
        CatMan enters the file name for the package name. When
        entering files individually, you can choose what to enter
        for package name.

How do I use Automatic Mode in Bulk Load?

        Choose a drive to read with Select Drive (A: or B:).
        Place a diskette in the selected drive, select Automatic
        mode, and enter the label name when requested. CatMan
        loads the database with information for all the files on
        the diskette.  Using Automatic Bulk Load, CatMan keeps
        track of the last 10 label names entered.  You are asked
        in you want to duplicate the label name.

What is the fastest way to enter files?

        Automatic Mode under Bulk Load is the quickest method to
        enter files. For instructions, see the question on how to
        use Automatic Bulk Load.

How do I use Manual Mode in Bulk Load?

        There are four steps for Manual Mode, the same four items
        on the Manual Mode menu. First, Grab All Files reads all
        the files on the diskette in the selected drive.  Second,
        Pick & Choose allows you to review the list of files
        found on the diskette and mark which files you want in
        the database (Yes/No) using the insert and delete keys.
        Third, Edit Label Name allows you to enter the label you
        want in the database for the selected files. The label
        name can not be blank. Fourth, Load Database completes
        the process.

How do I change information once it is entered?

        Change information to a file under Files on the main
        menu, Alter, Alterations. You can not change File Name
        for items that have been bulk loaded. The Time Stamp is
        not alterable for any entry.

What is the difference between File Name, Package Name and Label?

        File Name is the name you see when you do a directory of
        the diskette.  Package Name is the name you would use to
        buy the software in the store. Label is what is on the
        diskette label, either your own label or a pre-printed
        label. Bulk Load Automatic Mode enters the file name in
        the Package Name since it can not determine the software
        name.

