Introduction +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ******************************************************************************* * In the future civilization dies in the cataclysms. The Draconians were * * born from the death of old Earth. Who will rule the new Urth? * ******************************************************************************* Fighting games have recently swamped the arcades. They range from really bad animation and graphics to just a plain old copy of another game. Primal Rage changes that by having excellent graphics and unique characters. But you say, "Who made this? Those dudes that made Asteroids?" Yup, that's them. They have released two games in 1994 and Primal Rage is one of them! Using what's called "Stop-Motion Animation," the graphics are intense. You are given seven characters to choose from ranging from prehistoric dinosaurs to mythological creatures. Atari has put a lot of work into it. Two years worth! The special moves system is also new and different (see Special Moves). Go see for yourself! Primal Rage debuted at the 1994 CES in Chicago and was voted "Showstopper" by Game Pro Magazine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 2. Moves list ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----------------- 2.1 Normal Moves ----------------- Primal Rage has only four buttons and a joystick. The first column of buttons are "Quick" attacks. The second are "Fierce." Both buttons pressed together are "Strong." Player 1 side joystick and button configuration: Up-Away Up Up-Toward Strong (UA) (U) (UT) ___|___ O O O | | \ | / Quick Fierce Away (A) O-- --O Toward (T) O O / | \ O O O O O Down-Away Down Down-Toward (DA) (D) (DT) Key: O = button pressed . = button not pressed U = Up T = Toward A = Away D = Down Full = Do a full circle Toward = full circle clockwise when facing right (T-D-A-U) Away = full circle counterclockwise when facing right (T-U-A-D) (think of a wheel rolling "away" or "toward" you're opponent) ? = Unknown A hyphen (-) represents a fluid motion. So you have to roll the joystick. For example: D-T is | \ --O which is Sub-Zero's (MK) freeze motion O O or Ken's (SF) fireball motion. Roll your joystick from the Down position to the Toward position. All characters: O . = Quick Bite . O = Chomp O O = Big Chomp . . . . . . . . = Quick Tail . . = Tail . . = Big Tail O . . O O O Move specific to Talon and the Apes (Chaos and Blizzard): | . . = Slide O O O Talon also has a short slide which is: | . . O . O ----------------- 2.2 Special Moves ----------------- In most other games, a special move is performed by moving the joystick and then followed by the button(s). In PR, it's the opposite. The buttons you hold down determine which special move to perform, and moving the joysticks determines when that move comes out. Remember to HOLD down the buttons until you are done with the joystick movements! Some moves last longer if you hold down the buttons like Diablo's Torch. **NOTE**: In the new upgrade chip due sometime very soon (see Misc Stuff), you _WILL_ be able to do special moves in the traditional way (move joystick then hit buttons). All Special Moves listed work on a 1.7 machine (see Misc Stuff). * indicates 'Finishing Move' NOTE: These can be done from ANYWHERE but don't stand too close or you'll hit your opponent while trying to hold down the buttons! For those 'two-part' fatalities (Chaos, Vertigo ones), hold the first two buttons, then do the first set of joystick movements, press the remaining buttons WHILE STILL holding the first two buttons, and finish the remaining joystick movements. Easy enough? ** indicates 'Chomp a human, get more life' ///////// /ARMADON/ ///////// (The Hollows) _____________________________________________________________________________ | Bed-O-Nails: Armadon balls up like a porcupine with spikes sticking out | | of him. | | | | . You can even volleyball your opponent twice in the air! Combos are easy to execute. Any time you connect with a hit (provided that there isn't much of a delay). You can immediately hit a button for a stronger attack which will commence immediately. You can do this in the air to achieve two hits in the air. And there's a bonus! Thunder claps the number of hits-in-combo. This only happens if you do at least 4 hits _and_ at least 35% damage. If you haven't seen it, the thunder and lightning are incredible. Especially when you're not expecting it. (but I guess you are now. =) The maximum number of claps is ten even though the number of hits may be higher. Key: (1) (2) Numbers are for which buttons are being pressed. (3) (4) The words 'in air' in parentheses (in air) means to hit the buttons while you are still in the air. Some damages are listed in parenthesis after the combo. ///////// /ARMADON/ ///////// o 3 Hit: Jumping 1, 1, Gut Gouger or Leaping Uppercut o 4 Hit: Jumping 3, low 1+2, low 1+2, low 1+2 o 4 Hit: Jumping 2, 2, 1, 2 o 4 Hit: Jumping 3+4, 1, 2, Leaping Uppercut (48%) o 5 Hit: Jumping 2, 1+2 (in air), 1+2, 1+2, Rushing Uppercut o 5 Hit: Jumping 4, 3+4 (in air), low 3+4, low 3+4, Spinning Death (52%) ////////// /BLIZZARD/ ////////// o 3 Hit: 1, Ice Geyser, jumping 1, 2+3(air throw) o 3 Hit: Jumping 3+4, ducking 1, ducking 3+4 o 4 Hit: Jumping 1+2, 1, Ice Geyser, jumping 1, 2+3 o 4 Hit: Jumping 3+4, 2, 2, low 3+4 (48%) o 4 Hit: Jumping 3+4, low 3, low 3+4, Mega Punch (45%) o 5 Hit: Jumping 4, 1+2 (in air), low 4, low 3+4, Mega Punch (short) o 5 Hit: Low 3+4, Ice Geyser, jumping 3, 1+2 (in air), Air Throw o 5 Hit: Jumping 3, 3+4 (in air), low 4, low 3+4, Mega Punch o 6 Hit: Jumping 3, 3+4 (in air), low 1, 1+2, Ice Geyser, jumping 1+2, Air throw o 6 Hit: Jumping 3+4, low 1, low 3+4, Ice Geyser, jumping 1+2, Air Throw (59%) o 8 Hit: Jumping 3+4, 1, Ice Geyser, jumping 3+4, 1, 1, low 3+4, Mega Punch (long) (61%) o 8+ Hit: Cold Breath, Punching Bag, jumping 2, 2+3 (35%+) /////// /CHAOS/ /////// o 4 Hit: Jumping 1+2, 1+2, 1+2, Battering Ram (47%) o 5 Hit: Jumping 3+4, 1, 3+4, Battering Ram, 2 o 5 Hit: Jumping 4, 1+2 (in air), low 4, low 3+4, Battering Ram //////// /DIABLO/ //////// o 4 Hit: Jumping 1+2, low 3, low 3, Hot Foot o 4 Hit: Torch, 1, 2, Hot Foot (50%) o 4 Hit: Torch, 2, 2, Hot Foot (60%) o 5 Hit: Jumping 4, 3, 1, 2, Hot Foot o 5 Hit: Jumping 4, 3+4, 3+4, 3+4, Hot Foot Hot Foot can be replaced with the Mega Lunge if done quick enough. //////// /SAURON/ //////// o 2 Hit: low 4, Cranium Crusher o 5 Hit: Jumping 3+4, 1, 1, 4, Cranium Crusher (48%) /////// /TALON/ /////// o 3 Hit: Jumping 1+2, 1, 1+2 o 3 Hit: 1, 4, Frantic Fury o 3 Hit: Jumping 1+2, 2, Jugular Bite o 3 Hit: Low 4, low 3+4, Frantic Fury o 5 Hit: 1+2, 1, 1, 4, Frantic Fury o 5 Hit: 1+2, 1, Pounce and Flip o 5 Hit: Jumping 2, 1, 1, Face Ripper, Frantic Fury o 5 Hit: Jumping 3+4, low 3, 1, 1+2, 4, Jugular Bite o 5 Hit: Jumping 1+2, 1, 1, Double Slash, Frantic Fury (49%) o 5 Hit: Jumping 1+2, 1, 1, Double Slash, Pounce and Flip (50%) o 6 Hit: Jumping 1+2, 2, 1+2, Pounce and Flip (50%) o 7 Hit: Jumping 3, low 1, low 1, low 1, Pounce and Flip o 7 Hit: Low 1, low 1, low 3+4, 1+2, Pounce and Flip (51%) o 10-13 Hit: Jumping 3+4, low 1, low 1, low 1, Double Slash, low 1, low 1, low 1, Jugular Bite or Pounce and Flip ///////// /VERTIGO/ ///////// o 2 Hit: low 3+4, Scorpion Sting o 3 Hit: low 3, low 3+4, Scorpion Sting o 4 Hit: Jumping 3+4, 1, 1, Come Slither, 12 (27%) o 4 Hit: Jumping 3+4, 2, low 2, Scorpion Sting (28%) o 4 Hit: low 1, low 1, low 1, 2 o 4 Hit: Come Slither, 1, 2, Scorpion Sting (27%) o 4 Hit: Jumping 1+2, 3, low 3+4, Scorpion Sting (44%) o 5 Hit: 2, 1+2, 2, 1+2, Scorpion Sting (42%) o 5 Hit: Jumping 3, 3+4 (in air), 2, 1+2, Scorpion Sting o 6 Hit: Jumping 2, 1+2 (in air), 1+2, 1+2, 1, Scorpion Sting o 6 Hit: 2, 1+2, Come Slither, 2, 1+2, Scorpion Sting o 7 Hit: Jumping 3+4, 2, 1+2, Come Slither, 2, 1+2, Scorpion Sting o 7 Hit: Jumping 4, 3+4 (in air), 1, 1, Come Slither, 1, 2, Scorpion Sting o 8 Hit: low 1,low 2,1+2,Come Slither, walk, low1, low2, 1+2, Scorpion Sting These are only some of the combos possible. There are probably millions more! Try combining different parts from different combos to get a new one! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 3. Brain Gauge ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Under your health bar (the big artery extending from your heart) is your Brain Gauge. Each time you take or block a hit, your brain gauge goes down. You can't get stunned while blocking, but if you've been blocking for a while your meter is likely very low, so if you get hit at all you are quite likely to get stunned. If you run out of brain power, you lose control of bodily functions and are stunned. Luckily, brain energy regenerates fairly quickly over time. Some moves, like Vertigo's Voodoo Spell, will suck all the brain energy right out of you, putting you into immediate stun. Other's, like Blizzard's Punching Bag, cut off the oxygen to your brain and suck energy off _very_ quickly. You can't get stunned from blocking. But, if you are low on the gauge and get hit, you will most likely be in a stun. You also cannot get stunned by a big combo if you have all of your brain. You can shake out of the stun by wiggling your joystick back and forth. Shaking the joystick for some reason sends your brain to zero if you wait for any recovery before you start shaking it, then it begins to go up faster with button combinations. Also you can recover from certain moves faster e.g. Voodoo Spell and Fart of Fury. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 4. Offense and Defense ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------ 4.1 Offense ------------ There are a series of un-blockable moves in PR that called leaping attacks. All of these are initiated from the ground and involve the character leaping at you, landing on your head, and usually doing something nasty. For example, Sauron wrestles you to the ground and rips a chunk of flesh out of your neck. To make matters worse, leaping attacks are guided. No matter where you are on the screen, they'll go right for you =). More? Some also hit even if they barely nick your body. Sauron has landed on an extended tail during an attack and he still gotten pummeled! Suffice it to say that if you see someone leaping out you, get out of the way! For some attacks like Talon's brain basher, you just have to take a few steps forward or backward. For most others, your best course of action is probably to jump back and counterattack. ------------ 4.2 Defense ------------ Blocking in Primal Rage starts off simple: to block a high attack, pull directly away from your opponent on the joystick. To block a low attack, pull down and away on the joystick. If you get hit once, and someone starts to unleash a combo, you can't block it. That's why it's called a combo! So, the moral of the story is...don't get hit! :) Block these high: 1) Talons Standing 1+2 2) Blizzard and Chaos's standing 3+4 3) Air attacks - of course :) Also, you can cancel your opponent's projectiles in three ways: 1) If you are Vertigo, you can "go through" projectiles like Armadon's Flying Spikes. Sauron's Primal Scream does the same thing. There's probably more ways of doing this. 2) Depending on who you are, you can just fire a projectile to cancel your opponent's projectile. This only works for some like Sauron vs. Blizzard. 3) If your projectile doesn't cancel the opponent's projectile and you still have some time, you can fire another projectile. The second projectile will cancel your opponent's projectile! Diablo vs. Chaos is a good example. I haven't tested everyone yet so this might not work for some! ------------ 4.3 Jumping ------------ There seems to be three types of jumps in Primal Rage (not including leaping attacks). The first is a hop jump. To execute this, just push the joystick towards, down and then up and towards. The joystick motion would be T, D, UT. NOTE: The hop jump only works in 2-player mode! The second type of jump is the regular jump. To execute this jump, push the joystick up and in the direction you want to jump. The joystick motion is either UT or UA. The third jump is the long jump. To execute this, you push the joystick down and then diagonally up in the direction you want to jump. The joystick motion for this jump is D, UT or UA. Jumping in Primal Rage is almost suicide. Almost everyone has a special move or a Quick-Fierce (1+2) that's almost designed to take out a jumping opponent. For example, Talon's crouched Strong bite where he lowers himself to the ground and snaps at the air with his teeth. The apes may have some success with jumping because they both have attacks that reach _way_ down, but jumping is not recommended for the dinos. The only time jumping should be used is when attacking over a projectile, playing someone you know you can beat, or to get out of the way of a leaping attack. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 5. Endings ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ///////// /ARMADON/ ///////// For over a million years Armadon had lived peacefully in his cave beneath the Earth's crust. Telepathically linked to the biomass the cataclysms and the battles for supremacy over the changing planet tortured him. So he rose up to settle things once and for all. Now that the threat has past he settles down into the ground to enjoy some well deserved rest. The land is scarred but calm. At least for now. Followed by a picture of Armadon in a cave. His worshippers have built some dwellings into the cave's walls. Armadon sits in the middle of the cave meditating. His body is outlined with electricity. Picture Caption: THE MEDITATION OF ARMADON ////////// /BLIZZARD/ ////////// Blizzard is a noble god. The essence of the animal spirit. Frozen for a millennia at the heart of an immense glacier in the Himalayas, Blizzard was released when the Urth met the great meteor. He lived high in the mountains descending only when threatened and with his animal power and age-old wisdom. He was unstoppable. With no threats remaining he returns to his mountain retreat. One day, though, a new force will invade his land from across the endless ocean. This text is followed by a picture depicting Blizzard sitting in a throne-like ice chair. He is calmly looking down at several of his worshippers who are at the base of his throne. Picture Caption: BLIZZARD'S SOLITUDE /////// /CHAOS/ /////// Chaos was the mightiest witchdoctor on the first continent. His greatest wish was to control the evolution of humanity. In his quest for power he cast a mighty spell which backfired and turned him into a disgusting beast, forced to wallow in his own excrement for eons. During the cataclysm Chaos praised Throshti, god of Carrion, for release. However, to restore his greatness he had to defeat all of his enemies. Now his task completed he regains control of his life and leads his tribe to greatness. One day, though, his people will be threatened and he will have to pursue power again... Followed by a picture of the human Chaos standing with a near completely nude woman at his side. A ghost-like figure of the ape Chaos is in the background. Picture Caption: CHAOS' REDEMPTION //////// /DIABLO/ //////// Diablo is evil in its purest form. He was released from his fiery prison, deep within the Urth, drawn by the pain and torment caused in the great cataclysm. Now that he has conquered the planet, he lives to torture it. With none left to oppose him, he begins to burn the entire planet sparing only the cruel and vicious. He turns the world into a living hell. For centuries he will revel in the inferno he has created, until at last his rule is challenged by a traveler from across the great sea. Followed by a picture of Diablo standing near some kind of structure. There are a few worshippers at his feet. There are also hanging bodies and other violent images. Picture Caption: DIABLO'S HELL //////// /SAURON/ //////// Sauron is the god of Hunger. When released from his sleep of ages by the catastrophe, he soon realized that he must devour human flesh to remain immortal. The hungry hordes of humanity worshipped him, but lived in dread fear of his presence. Many humans soon sought refuge with other rulers of the planet. Sauron had no choice but to defeat the others in order to feast on their followers. Now that he has devoured most of the land, he sets off in quest of new lands and new meals. This text is followed by a awesomely sick picture. It depicts Sauron standing in the background next to a huge pile of millions of eaten bodies. A dead body hangs from Sauron's teeth. In the foreground there is a mostly eaten, fleshless body and another body with his skull broken open with his brains spilling out. Picture Caption: THE FEAST OF SAURON /////// /TALON/ /////// For eons, Talon was a great chief of a raptor clan on a hidden South Pacific island. When the great meteor rearranged the continents, Talon's island was brought in contact with the mainland. Wanting to ensure the safety of his wives and children, he set off to eliminate all dangers of the clans welfare. Now raptors live a life of luxury and humans are kept as cattle or hunted as sport while raptors lounge about in the sunshine. His clan is completely safe and Talon will be happy until the newcomers arrive. Followed by a picture of a few raptors lying on a hill under a tree. The lounging raptors are overlooking a cattle style pen with humans running around trying to stay away from a raptor with a big net. Picture Caption: TALON'S DREAM ///////// /VERTIGO/ ///////// Long ago a sorceress named Vertigo appeared from another dimension. Then in a great magical battle during the Mesozoic Wars Vertigo was banished to the moon by the arch mage Balsa Fas. The meteor crash, however, has weakened the old shields enough for her to return and enslave the planet once again. Reveling in her victory, Vertigo has enslaved hordes of humans having them build her an insane palace in multiple dimensions. Few minds can endure the torture, but there are plenty of humans. One day while practicing her arcane arts she discovers a land where she is not queen. Followed by a picture of Vertigo in the middle of some swirling colors. There is a man and a woman in the foreground covering their ears. There are, also, some silhouettes of stairways with tired looking humans walking up them in the background. Picture Caption: THE PALACE OF VERTIGO ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 6. Misc stuff ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ---------------- 6.1 Cheez Alert ---------------- Quick and tired of your opponent yelling, "That's cheezy!". Well, PR has it's own cheez alert! If you do something that the _game_ thinks is too cheezy (usually doing the same leaping attack over and over again) it will flash a "No Cheese" sign. No sign, no cheese. End of argument. =) Known auto-cheez: Repeated Infernos by Diablo Slow fireball then Pulverizer by Diablo Punching Bag in the corner and then Ice Geyser by Blizzard Jump kick, Neck Throw by Sauron Vertigo Come Slither followed by a Voodoo Spell Jump kick, face ripper by Talon --------------------- 6.2 Eat a worshipper --------------------- Each creature can reach down and chomp a human worshipper (that's right, pick him up and eat him). You can gain health from this. This leaves you vulnerable however and most of the time you get hit before you eat the guy and the guy goes flying out of your hand. It seems that the men give you more energy than the women. The fat guys give you the most health (11%). NOTE: Some eat worshippers faster than others. Blizzard, for example, takes his time chomping on a human while Vertigo just swallows them up. -------------------- 6.3 Going ballistic -------------------- Each character goes ballistic when their energy is below the lowest mark on the main artery and when your opponent has over the first mark. When the weaker opponent is low on the brain gauge and gets knocked down, they should go into a stun. Instead of going into a stun, when they get up, they go into the ballistic state. It is believed that your hits are worth less than double. You can tell if you are in that state if your character is flickering and has blue words under your character's name. Armadon - SAMADHI Blizzard - ZEN Chaos - INSANE Diablo - STEAMED Sauron - RAMPAGING Talon - BERSERK Vertigo - RABID ----------------- 6.4 Final Battle ----------------- After beating all of the opponent while playing against the computer, you arrive at a stage where you have to fight all seven characters once again in one round. This is called the "Final Battle." Fortunately, before arriving at this stage, you have a chance to acquire more than 100% strength. There is a mini-round where all you do is eat worshippers for more strength. It is possible to obtain an extra 100% health. You can eat in this round by doing each character's 'Eat a worshipper' move or with some characters, just a fierce bite for the teredactyls in the air. An extra green bar appear under the regular health bar for the extra health. Before this mini-round, there is little phrase that pops up. Armadon - TO GIVE YOU STRENGTH FOR THE FINAL CONFRONTATION, YOUR TRIBE SACRIFICES ITSELF TO YOU. Blizzard - NOW, DINE ON A FINE FEAST OF FOLLOWERS Chaos - CHOW DOWN, IT'S A PAGAN PICNIC Sauron - DEVOUR YOUR FOLLOWERS TO REMAIN IMMORTAL Vertigo - SWALLOW THE TINY HUMANS WHOLE Talon - CHEW UP AS MANY HUMANS AS YOU CAN FINAL BATTLE BUG in VERSION 1.7: At the mini-round, do NOT get 100% health. If you do, in the Final Battle, when you lose your first 100% of health, you will NOT get the health you earned in the mini-round. Your game will be over. ------------------------------------- 6.5 Secrets - Volleyball and Bowling ------------------------------------- 6.5.1 Volleyball When you and an opponent are on Sauron's stage, have one player do a combo on the other. Once you do this, a worshipper will run out and start bowing. Have one player who is close to the worshipper hit the worshipper. The worshipper should bounce over to the other player. Before the worshipper lands, have the other player hit the worshipper back. After bouncing the worshipper back and forth ten times, a judge on a high chair and a net will pop up and the round clock stop. You and your opponent can now play volleyball with a helpless human! Once a player reaches a score of three, you go resume fighting. You can eat the "ball" too. With Vertigo, I ate the ball twice when I hit quick bite! I lost the point because of that! 6.5.2 Bowling On Armadon's Stage (The Hollows), have both players continuously execute the Spinning Death on each other. After several Spinning Deaths, the worshippers will then get into a bowling pin formation and let you roll over them with the Spinning Death. ----------------- 6.6 Sudden Death ----------------- If you and your opponent end up with only one win each after the third round, you end up in a "Sudden Death" round. The round lasts for only 30 seconds and has a meteor shower thrown in. Both players begin with a full bar of health and 30 seconds for the round. As the round begins, each players' health decreases at a steady rate and both fight as usual until one loses. Whoever wins the Sudden Death round, wins the match. --------------- 6.7 PR version --------------- To check the version of PR you have, push up on the left joystick and pull down on the right simultaneously. This works only on the title screen. The "production version" is 1.7. If you have a beta version, bug your arcade owner to get it updated! ---------------- 6.8 NEW UPGRADE ---------------- Two updates for Primal Rage have been scheduled! The first is due out in December. 1) The main difference is that you will be able to do special moves the traditional MK/SF way (move the joystick and then hit buttons). You will still be able to do them by holding the buttons first. 2) There is one new fatality for each character, bringing the total to three finishing moves per character. 3) Special Moves have been added to several of the characters. 4) There are NAMES for certain combos. All of the named combos have three 'levels'. The named combos are usually activated by one special move. There is also a minimum hit requirement. One named combo: If you use Sauron's Neck Throw in a combo which hits at least 4 times, you'll see "CRUNCHY". If the combo hits at least 6 times, you'll see "EXTRA CRUNCHY". If the combo hits at least 7 times (a 9 hitter is possible in the new version) you'll see "TAKE A BITE OUTTA CRIME!". So the combo naming scheme goes something like that - the first level is "NAME", the second level is usually "SUPER NAME" or some modifier, and the third level is a wierd variation on the first two, with an exclamation "!" or question "?" mark at the end (one has ". . ."). 5) Bugs have been fixed and the characters are more balanced. 6) More health for eating followers. 7) New animation. The second chip upgrade is scheduled for Jan '95 and will contain a new character! An Atari TWI rep told me it will be a boss character but will the character be playable? Hopefully, yes! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++ 7.
