SAN JOSE, CA-SEPTEMBER 15, 1993--The NHLs most popular All-Star player, Brett 
Hull, the players from the National Hockey League Players Association and sports 
announcer, Al Michaels are about to star together in a new video game.  Accolade, a 
leading publisher of sports simulations for computer and video game systems, today 
announced that Brett Hull Hockey, featuring the names, likenesses and statistics of real 
players from the NHLPA and play-by-play commentary by Al Michaels, will be available 
in November for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis.  


Brett Hull Hockey represents the companys first ice hockey simulation in one of the 
fastest growing spectator and recreational sports in the country.  The game includes 
design input from and the digitized skating of Brett Hull himself and provides hockey 
fans with the chance to face off with any of the players from the NHLPA, including Brett 
Hull.  Brett Hull Hockey will be available in November for the Super Nintendo and Sega 
Genesis at a suggested retail price of $69.95.  A version for IBM PC and compatible 
computers is scheduled to release during the second quarter of 1994.


Brett Hull Hockey brings Hulls tough, high-scoring style of playing hockey together with 
his philosophy about the game which is, it has to be fun or its not worth playing.  
Several modes of play are offered including exhibition game, 11 game short season, 42 
game half season and an 84 game full season that no other computer or video game 
provides.   It also includes the playoffs and a partial All Star skills competition.   Players 
can select which players to play from any of the NHLPA team cities.


To create a realistic hockey environment, Radical Entertainment, the designers of Brett 
Hull Hockey and die-hard fans of the sport, videotaped skaters, including Brett Hull 
himself, playing hockey and digitized them for the product.   Based on input from Brett 
Hull himself, the game includes a behind the player perspective.  The game also

features full instant replay, authentic organ music and sound effects such as the noise of

the skates carving the ice and the puck rebounding off the goal post, and a fighting 
sequence for players ranked as aggressive.  Players can also turn on and off penalties, 
select and change line settings, and allocate playing attributes to teams.  


Im very excited to be personally involved with this new and exciting hockey game, 
commented Brett Hull.  Im impressed that Accolade was able to incorporate some of my 
ideas into the game, and that its important to them that Im involved.


To take full advantage of the capabilities of the Super Nintendo, Brett Hull Hockey will 
make use of Mode 7 which offers scaling and rotation abilities.  The Sega Genesis version 
will include a save game battery backup and the Super Nintendo version will include a 
password feature. 


Brett Hull Hockey also features complete play-by-play commentary by Emmy award-
winning Al Michaels.  He garnered his first Sportscaster of the Year award in 1980, the 
same year he made his memorable calling of the U.S.A. hockey teams dramatically 
successfull quest for the gold medal in the Winter Olympics at Lake Placid.  He went on to 
cover hockey during the 1984 Winter Games in Sarajevo and during the 1988 Calgary 
Winter Olympics.   


Brett Hull, right winger for the St. Louis Blues, is one of the NHLs greatest goal scorers in 
NHL history, and is one of the most marketable stars since Wayne Gretzky.  He is the son 
of the legendary Hall-of-Famer, Bobby Hull, whose reign in the 60s and 70s earned him 
the reputation as one of the best all-around hockey players in history.  A super star on his 
own, Brett Hull was named the NHLs Most Valuable Player in 1990-91 for achieving 86 
goals in 78 games and was twice voted the NHLs Most Popular All-Star Player in fan 
balloting.   Brett Hull joined hockey greats, Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux when he 
became a member of the NHLs 50/49 Club for scoring 50 goals in 49 games and NHLs 
80 Goal Club.
