DOWNLOADING-UPLOADING FILES



    The transfer file section has a number of helpful as well as beneficial
files available for downloading.  There are a variety of programs,  games,
utilities, communication programs, educational to name a few.  These are
shareware programs and do not require a fee.  However, authors of shareware do
expect registration of these programs if you use them on a regular basis.  This
to is not mandatory, and entirely up to you.


                     Transfering files  [Downloading]


At the main prompt, you hit the letter T.  This will bring to you our Transfer
section.  [See below.]

    Once in the transfer section, you may however, scan the file list to select
files.  This can be done 1 section at a time, or the entire section. To see
what directories are available, "Press  *" this will show the directories.

    Once you have the number of the directory whose files you would like to 
see,
press that number at the prompt.  To see the files in that particular directory
" press L " at the prompt.  All files contained in that directory will be shown
in alphabetical order.     [See Below]

    At any time, the entire transfer section may be viewed by "Pressing the
letter  S" and "Y" to scan all the Directories. Press the Spacebar (Anywhere
on the entire bbs)  to abort the scrolling lists.

    Once you have chosen your file to download, at the prompt "Press the letter
D".    [ See below ]

Filename:             NEW.WPS

    You will then be prompted to list the file.  Enter the exact name of that
file.  You will see this description of the file.

  Next you will be asked to pick a "Protocol".

2: Xmodem
3: Xmodem-CRC
4: Ymodem
5: Batch
6: Zmodem
8: MPT (Puma v1.41)

    Enter the number of which protocol you would like to use.  Xmodem, Ymodem
and Zmodem are the most popular.  Zmodem will however, correct errors for you
even if someone picks up your phone during your transfer.  When not sure, use
Xmodem.  That is accepted anywhere. When you select your Protocol, you will see
this,

> Beginning file transmission, ^X to abort.

    The next step is on your end, "YOU THEN MUST PRESS YOUR PAGEDOWN KEY."
That's it !  The file will be transferred.  Most all communication programs
allow you to designate a path in your computer of where the file will be placed
after completion of transfer.  Check your manual to find out more on your 
paths.

                        *****  UPLOADING FILES  *****

    Uploading works on the same principle,  the only difference is that at the
prompt, (in any directory) you would press the letter " U".    THEN PRESS YOUR
"PAGEUP KEY".


** NOTE ***   You need NOT be in any particular directory to UPLOAD or DOWNLOAD


On DOWNLOADS - If you know the name of the file,  the entire section will be
               searched and the file found.

On UPLOADS   - All files go directly to the sysop hold area for examination to
               make sure they are ShareWare and NOT COMMERCIAL PROGRAMS!


    Although a file ratio is displayed, there are NO ratios on Fantazia BBS.
Some BBS'S require that you upload a certain amount of files in a ratio to
your download. We do ask that if you have a file that you truly think other
users will enjoy, that you upload it at your convience.

   Next the uncompression of that "zipped" file will be discussed in "Unzipping
