There are two classes of "Doctor" systems, both of which are described below: The multi-system "Doctor" gives the ability to play cartridge games from floppy disk to as many video game consoles as possible. Typically, the following game consoles are supported: (all by one "Doctor") Mega Drive Genesis PC-Engine Supergrafx Super Famicom SNES Game Boy Game Gear The Turbografx-16 is NOT supported by rampack-based copiers at this time. The user copies a video game cartridge by inserting it into the copier. The machine then writes out the game onto a 3 1/2" floppy. 8 megabit games will require a 1.44 megabyte HD disk, but smaller games (up to 4 megs) can be put on a 720 kilobyte DS disk. Disks are standard MS-DOS disks and games are stored as DOS files, readable with any MS-DOS compatible computer equipped with the right floppy drive... To play a game from disk, the disk is inserted into the unit, along with the RAMPACK. Think of the RAMPACK as a blank cartridge. The machine loads that disk into the RAMPACK which then mates with the appropriate adapter, so that it may be inserted into the matching video game console. The RAMPACK is equipped with a 256 kilobit save circuit and save games for both the Mega Drive (Genesis), and the Super Famicom (SNES) are supported. The user needs to supply his or her own 9V (~1 A) AC-to-DC adapter. The one that comes with the above video game systems will work. You can get one at Radio Shack for less than $10. I am charging $850 for a multi-system Doctor, or $800 each for 2 or more. Shipping is extra ($10 for delivery in continental US.) Checks require 2 weeks to clear - please be patient! Orders paid by a money order(s) will be processed immediately. Delivery typically takes ONE week. Will deli- ver to your home within the greater Bay Area. What you get for your money: Main Console (with 1.44 megabyte 3 1/2" floppy drive) 8 megabits Rampack Copier Adapters for the following systems: Mega Drive (Genesis), Super Famicom (SNES), and PC-Engine Mega-Drive-to-Genesis converter for Genesis owners Adapters for Supergrafx, Game Gear, and Game Boy are available separately for $50 each. Please inquire about availability... Also, please NOTE that Doctor systems from me come with factory warranties. (1 year) However, the customer is required to pay for shipping back to the authorized repair facility. I don't know of any import house that provides warranty service on their "grey" goods. The one-system "Doctor" in general is just as functional as a full-blown multi-system "Doctor," albeit for ONE system only. The following videos are supported: (one system per Doctor, please specify when ordering) Mega Drive Genesis (same unit) PC-Engine Don't expect to get all the features of a multi-system Doctor, however. For example, whereas the multi-system Doctor is equipped with a 1.44 megabyte 3 1/2" floppy drive, the one-system Doctor comes with a 720 kilobyte DS flop- py drive. 8 megabit games require 2 disks and you swap disks when prompted. Works the same way as described above, except no RAMPACK is used. Instead, the main unit attaches right to the video game console. Otherwise, the two types of Doctors are equivalent. I charge $550 for a one-system Doctor, or $500 each for two or more. As before, shipping is $10 for delivery throughout the continental US. The previous information applies regarding payment by check and delivery. I also import Mega Drive cartridges. Price will not exceed $35 for each title. Shipping is $3 and includes first class postage and a padded envelope. Please specify title and inquire about availability.
