Happy Birthday Sonic Meltdown.
------------------------------

As of May, Sonic Meltdown is one year old. And what a ride it has
been. Sonic has went through many stages to reach the level it has
attained.

Since the introduction of Sonic Meltdown a year ago we have seen
alot transpire as the winds of change sweep across our lives both in and
out of cyberspace. Q16 and Prince Thrakhath were remote sysops and eager
to get the show on the road. But both of these characters left the Sonic
scene for their own personal reasons. Our Global War god Osiris took over
checking up on the online games and became the Game Manager. Stalwart,
which months before, Giz showed all the ropes for modeming to became the
Remote System Op. Kubiak, avid poster, became the Message Base Op. With
the 1000+ files online Fractal began criticing the transfers and became
the File Op.

Everyone who has been with us during the fall remembers the loss
off the user list a good few times, and almost everyone remembers the big
crash of 1994 when in January the modem broke, the HD crashed and WWiV
messed up and brought the mighty sonic down to its knees. With the motivation
from all of the e-mail recieved on other boards, and voice calls from many
sysops and users, Sonic returned. Running on a 2400 loaned by kubiak in a
40 meg HD Sonic came back. from march until the begining of May we lingered
on a temporary bbs...

But the meltdown ain't what it used to be, the past behind us, the
administration began to improve the bbs again. To bring Sonic back to its
original splender was not the goal of the administrative crew, but to excel
way beyond into infinitum to become the greatest and most interactive bbs
in Maryland.

In May the winds of change blew across the Meltdown again, winds
not dealt by the evil hand of fate, but by the efforts of the System
Operator. Based on a concept used by 2 other bbs systems as suggested
by Gamer, Sysop of Arcade Room, Sonic linked with it to produce 1 large
bbs. Near the time of merger, Arcade Room celebrated its 2nd year online.
A new smoother and cleaner ansi graphic style was used and with the
new look and and feel to the Sonic, it merged and the cyber families of two
boards linked up. The Audio Video Assembly was created by Gizmo and
Vince Clarke, and right away many talented computer artists joined the scene
allowing the AVA to feature many forms of computer art such as
ansi, gifs, sound tracker moduals, midi music and wolfenstein patches.

We look into the future, head in the sky and eyes on the road of
excellence. With 2 more Sonic boards possibly going online in the month of
June, we await to see what good things are in store for each of us as the
Sonic Staff and Administration frantically work on creating the ultimate in
bbs and user interaction.

across three BBS's. This year the BGWAA is looking for

        3. Battle Grid is online again. A sub which is 1 part never ending
story, 1 part RPG and 3 parts fun. Each player explains
part of the story in 1st person perspective in this never
                ending battle.

thoughts concerning the system each month. Any new information which is
relevent to any of the boards in the Sonic System will be printed in the
Newletter as well. If you like to write, please contact Gizmo. We will be
