Alarm Clock Program (C) 1992 Paul Townsend Contact Address for comments etc. Paul Townsend 2 Ashwell Ave Lowton Warrington Cheshire ENGLAND Postcode : WA3 2HT Instructions for use: You will see a range of buttons on the clock to activate any of them click on them with the mouse. I will now describe the buttons in order of appearance (sort of) Power Clicking on this is just like pulling the plug on an ordinary alarm clock, the clock ceases to function, in this case you are returned to AmigaDos. Save Prefs When you have set the alarm time and set up the clock with your own preferences (See later) click on this and next time you load up the clock, your prefs will be restored. There is no load prefs, it is done automatically when the clock is first started.(Note: You can only save you prefs if the disk is write enabled) Chime On/Off This enables the Half-hourly chime, you can see if chimes are active by the 'CH' in the clock window, it is only there if when chimes are active. If chimes are active then every half hour, the time will be spoken to you.(Note: Your choice is saved by the Save Prefs function) 12/24 Hour Mode You can choose whether to display the time in AM/PM format or 24 hour clock format. (Note Your choice is saved by the Save Prefs function) Tell Time Click on this and the time will be spoken to you. Alarm Off When the alarm is ringing, click on this to silence it. Snooze When the alarm is ringing, clicking on this will silence the alarm and reset it so that it rings again in 10 minutes Hint: Once the alarm and time are set so that you don't have to have your monitor or T.V. switched on all night if you don't want to see the time, to make it easy to silence the alarm without looking at the screen again, place the mouse pointer over the Alarm Off or Snooze button and press the RIGHT mouse button, this will freeze the mouse pointer over the button so when the alarm rings just press the Left mouse button and you can be sure that the pointer will still be in the place you left it. To unfreeze the mouse just press the right mouse button once more. You will also notice that the power LED is always flashing while the clock is running, this is so if you have turned off your monitor or TV, then you can look at the LED for piece of mind that the program is still running OK. Setting Time and Alarm Mode This just displays the set alarm time for a moment then returns to time display. Set This works in a similar way to a digital watch, use this to set the Alarm and real time. It allows you to change the following in this order. Press Function 1 The Alarm HOURS will flash, Use the + and - buttons to change the hour 2 The Alarm MINS will flash, Use the + and - to change the mins 3 This depends on whether you have changed the Alarm time or not, if you have, then the clock will return to it's normal state of displaying the time and waiting for the alarm time etc., If you did not make any change to the alarm time, then the Time HOURS will flash and they can be changed with the + and - buttons in the same way as setting the alarm. 4 If you are in time set mode then the Time Mins will flash, you can change them as usual with the + and - buttons, if you change the mins then the seconds are reset to 00 and will not be started until you exit out of time set mode, this allows you to set the time exactly to the second if you wish. 5 If still in time set mode, the clock returns to normal. Note: When you use the Save Prefs option the Alarm time you set will be saved this is so that if you regularly want the alarm set at the same time, you do not have to keep setting it. The Alarm time will be automatically reset to your time when ever the program is first run. Note: If you have a battery backed clock in you Amiga, you wont need to change the time, it is automatically set to the current time if the clock exists. That's about it, all the source code is on the disk, have fun. Paul Townsend
