I just logged on/off/on and got:

1 subboard(s) report new uploads since your last call.
Quick-browse these new files now [Yes]? Yes
There have been no new uploads since your last call.

When marking more files than you have time/file/byte credits for,
does anyone wish the sytem told you how much you've exceded things?
>Note: selected files exceed available time.
OR
>Note: selected files exceed available time by 7 mins.
>You've marked 4 files more than you can D/L.
>You've marked 98k more than you can D/L.
It would help me decide which to get this time, and which next.

(The mark-more-than-allowed is a GREAT feature, Ken.!)
(The save-from-call-to-call feature makes it better still.)

Somewhere between v2.25 and v2.27e did the log-in, new-scan work in 2 different
ways? Do a browse listing, all new files everywhere:
1) appear listed as if all in 1 area.
2) appear listed in their individual areas.
If so, I preferred method #1.

--145--
In the control panel is the gadget to selects line #0 is extending 1/2 way
up into the "P# User AG Logon CPS From Action" line? Should it be,
or should that area be OK to select the WINDOW, (ie deselect ALL lines).

--146--

Are we allowed (or will be) to change subboard.vde, udata.vde,
agroup.vde? How? I need to change a few of the text descriptions
and move things in agroup.vde like:

1) Edit privileges
2) Edit limits/ratios
into
Edit limits/ratios is shown immediately upon entry and a submenu allows
"Edit privileges" to be changed.

Printed manual updated...
Spiral: 1.00-?.??
Binder: ?.??-2.19 (What versions does this cover?)

When is a 2.19-2.27e printed manual planned?
Looks likes ton of changes have been made in the last 17 updates.
(A laser or even cheap bubble-jet printer could spit-out a new,
fully updated manual every week, if need be.)

--148--

Does C-net have an official 'scripts' dir? (Assign XSCRIPTS: foo:)
Or could 1 be added. I already have over 350 assorted scripts in my
s: dir for non-BBS purposes. Sure NOT looking forward to mixing in
100 or so C-net BBS scripts, xarcs, etc...

It would also help avoid BBS vs non-BBS script filename conflicts. (I
already had an xlzh script I used to extract lzh files to the CLI.
I'll never get use to having to rename it so that Cnet can use the
s:xlzh filename instead.)

--149--

Is something big occurring when I close a UserInfo or SysInfo window
spawned from the control panel? I notice a 1-2 sec 100% CPU load and
a frozen mouse pointer. (Just for a window close?)

--150--

I run all my screens in a 2-color mode for speed and memory savings.
Simple white letters & cursor on a black background.

In VDE, moving the cursor doesn't highlight the current text, and I have
difficulty see where I'm at. Can these "highlight" by inverting
the background/foreground colors?

It's especially tricky at the (very important):
>Save changes Exit without saving
prompt.
(Both on same line, with same color cursor in between the choices.)

Do some visual editing in a 2-color screen (or call in from remote
2-color term) and see what I mean.

--151--

Please consider adding a new "/Tn{v}" test varible to MCI.
It would expand to the # (1-31) in BBSMENU.
Or is there currently a way to check which menu prompt a user is at?
MCI displays could do all kinds of nifty things, adjusting themselves
according to where a user is at any given time.

--152--

Can "EG without a parameter" use VDE to list/select all the groups
by name/#?

--153--

VisualDataEditor from remote (as well as local)...
<< Exit
<< Previous screen
Is there a hot-key for these 2 items?
Maybe "ESC"="Previous screen" if at sub-menu, and
"ESC"="Exit" if already at root-menu (just Exit w/save option).

Quickly replaces "UP UP UP UP UP UP UP UP RETURN" with a single "ESC".
(Especially fast/handy at 2400bps.)

--154--

Can a subboards "Immediate Testing" and "Immediate Transform" flags
also be made tri-state?

Immediate YES
Immediate NO
Immediate BCK (Spawn background task if file is >x Kbytes).

I'd gladly make ALL my areas testing/transforming, if the user didn't
have a (sometimes very lenghty) wait for completion.

An OLM and/or mail would inform the user as to its result.

--155--

From v2.27e ReadMe...
>--- version 2.27 25-August-1992
>98.	If you run FIDO, you must delete the "max items" lines from your
>	BBSFIDO files (if you run the 2.27 versions of the FIDO programs!)

>BBSfido included with v2.20e
>15 ; Max Subboards/List (must match BBSCONFIG)
>150 ; Max Items/List (must match BBSCONFIG)

>BBSfido included with v2.27e
>150 ; Max Items/List (must match BBSCONFIG)

BBSfido should now have 0, 1, or 2 "Max" lines?
The ReadMe suggests 0.
The included BBSfido has 1.
(If these values have to be exactly as in BBSconfig, then it should have
always just got its value from there.)

--156--

In the VisualDataEditor, can the SPACEBAR also be made as
"Hit ENTER to select" key?

--157--

Any plans to WB2.04-ize the control panel?
Underscore U and S for the text in _U_serinfo/_S_ysinfo gadgets and hot-key
U and S to call them up.

Hitting 0-9 could load/open/close the corresponding lines.
_0_ _9_ _U_ _S_

--158--

All pull-down menus that have submenus attached should have their text
ending with "..." or ">>>" to show the user that menu choices has
additional choices.

This is per CBM themselves.

--159--

I couldn't for the life of me figure out the new capture text pull-down
node menus. I had to read the docs several times and play with them extensively
until I got the hang of things. Neither would have been neccessary with
2 separate menus: (And I'm certainly no stranger to intuition.)

CAPTURE BUFFER...
   OPEN
   CLOSE
   ===== (space)
   CLEAR

SAVE BUFFER TO...
   FILE
   FILE APPEND
   PRT

When adding a new subboard, where does the system get all its defaults from?
Internally?
Would there be a way for us to decide what comes up as its intial settings?
It would greatly streamline adding a handful of new subboards.
We'd only have to change a few of our desired defaults.

A new 'copy subboard' or 'duplicate subboard' AL/EL option, would do it.

--161--

When in the visual data editor, and branched to a submenu
can a few pieces of info ALWAYS visible at the top of every screen.
If area editing: Area name, #, is it a BASE or UDBASE.
If user editing: User name/handle/acct #.
If group editing: Group name/#.

It would act as a reminder to which area/user/group we are working on at the time.
I have to keep flipping back to "previous screen" just to check.

--162--

Can a node's display be re-drawn if:

While in local VDEs in window:
Touching the window re-size gadget, zoom, or closing/opening window.

While in local VDEs in screen:
  A screen close/re-open.

While in remote VDEs:
Hitting ctrl-r (for line noise, etc)
(Consistant with visual text editor's 'redraw' keystroke.)

In all cases, without this re-draw, you are "editing blind" on a blank
screen.

--163--

Is there a place on the control panel you could squeeze in an ICONIFY gadget?
Either as a custom gadget in its drag bar just left of the zoom gadget, or
between its [UserInfo] [SysInfo] gadgets.
> [UserInfo] [I] [SysInfo]
I just seem to be popping the panel in/out of icon a lot and would find it
very handy.

--164--

Is there a place on the control panel you could squeeze in a 2nd set of
UP/DOWN gadgets which would make the panel display 1 more or less line?
Replacing "DRAG/RESIZE, opps too big, opps to small" with a simple
CLICK 1 larger, CLICK 1 smaller.

--165--

Nodes in window on WB screen...
Great new feature. Can you have the windows check the WB screen width
and open node-windows to its max width.
Many of us use (very) overscanned WB screens.

--166--

In the control panel, numbers should always be right-justified to align
columns properly.
>Calls logged: 9
> Total: 108

>Calls logged: 9
> Total: 108

--167--

Please consider moving the handful of hardcoded references to "RAM:"
to user definable bbsconfig or bbstext. With 5+ alternate ram drives
devices available on the Amiga, I haven't used RAM: in ages. vd0:
vk0: rad: etc are rebootable, sizable, can be made (very) FFS, block
sizeable, etc. None of which RAM: can do.

--168--

Just by adding a new vote topic, the system automatically
assumes I picked choice #1.
> 1) Your Vote is #1
All I did was add a new topic.

--169--

If XPR-TASK is missing, BBSTEXT will inform SysOps of the wrong filename.
>/n1Can't find XX handler./n1

Should be
>Can't find %s:xpr-task

The log-in new-scan is counting ALL subboards with new files or
just my JOINed areas? I often see conflicting #s.
Just wanted to check which it is doing. (I like it counting ALL
subboards.)
