In BBSTEXT, what are codes like \hc doing?
Print "c" number of backspaces.

  Who has a list of all the flags that are/aren't visible here?
 1) Free D/L (never shows)
 2) Untested (never shows)
 3) Unvalidated (never shows)
 4) Unfinished (-)
 5) Tested but failed (!)
 6) Favorite (+)
 7) Protected (never shows)
 8) No responses allowed (never shows)
 9) New responses (*)
10) Has long file description also (never shows)
11) If file, also has some responses (never shows)
I'm assuming you can only see any 2 at once?

Each flag could show 3 things, instead of 1.
With the current 2 fields, you could see 6 flags instead of 2 flags.
With 3 fields, you could see 9 instead of 3 flags. Etc...

Other such 3-way (or more) flags could be:

 O \ Q
 O / 0

An MCI code that would give the C-net version # would prevent the
need to always update log-in text each time a new version of C-net
in placed online.

Quite often I see 'INFO' mention "Cnet vX.X in use" that is
many NOT the release the SysOp is currently running.

Is there any reason why "EU" doesn't also allow/encourge a user's
password to be changed also? I think a lot of callers would go
through EF/EP/EU/EA/ET/etc before they give up and think that they
can't even change their password.

The PW cmd should remain, but I feel "password changing" is just
another "edit user" variable.

(If it was removed for security, it need not be displayed, just
made editable via EU.)

Has anyone been working with the Arexx compiler found on Fred Fish
Disk #463, ExecRexx? I have a ton of compiled arexx scripts that work
fine as executables when run from the CLI. They crash (requiring a
COLD start no-less) my A3000 when run as a C-net DOS pfile, or thru
the online shell, or with MCI run-a-DOS calls.

"Real" executables work fine.

>Min/call  (5-999)   [ 30]:
If I "UA" the min/call of a user on another port, these don't take
effect until his next call? They take effect immediately if done
from the stats window, but that can't be reached from a remote
call-in.

How do I alter things like this when I need to do all 3:
1)  Do it remotely.
2)  Effective immediately.
3) The other user is currently online.

BBSMENU has 'HELP' as a global cmd to enter the online help system.

HELP is also used as an alternative for "?" (display a menu) for cmd
groups 5, 7, 10, and 31. (It, of course, is just ignored.)

(I *still* think I'm misunderstanding global VS local cmd priorities.)

--135--

Can these be merged into 1 prompt instead of 2?
(The easier/faster it is to U/L, the better.)

> Use your default protocol Zmodem [Yes]?
> Logoff upon completion, Abort, [Begin]:
becomes
> [L]ogoff upon completion, [A]bort, [P]rotocol change, [Begin]:

I don't think enough people change they're protocol enough to
warrant a specific, separate prompt to ask every user at every D/L.
(It would still be 100% available, just as 1 prompt instead of 2.)

And hot-key it, since it's a 1-keystroke prompt anyway.

--136--

Any DOS cmd run off the pfile menu scrolls continuously. Anyway
to make it obey the user's page-len-pause settings?

Maybe another attribute:
> Insert page-pauses [Yes/no]:

Very few DOS cmds accept page-length arguments.

--137--

Could the meaning of "free D/L" be made definable in bbsconfig?
 1=free from file count
 2=free from file bytes
 4=free from D/L time
Add them up, and the value would effect all free D/Ls systemwide.
Personally, mine would be set at 7. Free should be 100% free.
But any of the 8 combos (instead of the current limit of 1) would be valid.

--138--

Can these be made part of a user's variables so they don't have to
be re-answered by EVERY caller for EVERY Yank?
> Remove carriage returns [No]? Yes
> Use LHARC to compress file [Yes]? No

--139--

Ken, did we get an old CNET.H file with CNetAMIGA_D2 v2.0e?

#define EDHANDLE_FLAG    0x00000001    /* Defines for ABits2 (2nd 32bits) */
#define EDREALNAME_FLAG  0x00000002
#define EDADDRESS_FLAG   0x00000004
#define EDVOICE_FLAG     0x00000008
#define EDDATA_FLAG      0x00000010
#define BANNER_FLAG      0x00000020
#define TERMLINK_FLAG    0x00000040
#define PORTMONITOR_FLAG 0x00000080
#define VOTECHOICES_FLAG 0x00000100    /* <-Missing flag, (BB modified) */

I assume that's all that was changed.

(And a short "last modified date" in the header files would do wonders.)

Ken, I'm using the MCI XT##### 'getuser' codes to get values otherwise
not available in arexx scripts.

Getting PortData and MainPort values work fine.

The manual mentions getting UserData values also. (p.77 of spiral-bound)
What would the XT##### codes be for this?

I need to get a user's term-length (not height).
(Among many other things.)

--141--

 Ken, do you have any plans to 'lock-in' the 1st 2000 lines
 of BBStext soon? Guaranteeing everyone never to INSERT new lines
 there. C-net has been through enough releases/time to start making
 such commitments.

 Any reason why BBStext can't always be expanded/appened onto
 its end?

 I plan on making about *1500* line changes to BBStext.
 But only after it's 'locked-in'.

 (Maybe add a bunch of {} lines before the big 'lock-in'.)

 --142--

I accidently set some of my min-space limits too hi and too lo.
It wasn't fun checking 100 areas 1-by-1.

Can anyone list a few reasons why this limit needs to be set
independantly for EVERY area? Wouldn't 1 global config value do it?
(Or at most 2. UD and BASE min space.)

If it has to stay per-area, at least make it in K bytes instead of
bytes. I can't see too many people needing to specify
2,000,025 instead of 2000k. (Which would be the only sacrifice made,
if it was presented in K.)
