Here's a typical example of Cnet's power regarding its 'display text'
feature. Most BBSes allow the sysop to show callers text-strings or
files at various points while online. When they 1st log-in, at log-
off, before and after a download, when entering and exiting a certain
submenu, etc.

A good, extensive BBS might have 20-40 such places that text can be
'wedged' into the BBS. Sometimes these filenames are hardcoded. You
can't change them. Other BBSes allow the sysop to pick them. Still
other BBSes also allow the full-path to be specified, too. Some even
allow an Arexx script to be 'wedged-in' at 20-40 places, too.

Here's how Cnet does it:
1) You can 'wedge-into' the system and display a string of text.
2) You can 'wedge-into' the system and display a file of text.
3) This text can contain 100+ real-time expanded system variables,
color codes, branching, cursor moving, display text up/down/backwards/
forwards, delays, yes/no testing, and on and on.
4) You can 'wedge-into' the system and run an Arexx script.
(With the longest list of host cmds I've seen for any BBS anywhere.)
5) You can 'wedge-into' the system and run a standard CLI DOS cmd.
(Yes, with full, true STDIN/STDOUT 2-way communication with the user.)
6) You can 'wedge-into' the system and run a CNET DOOR.
    (Extremely powerful interface. Get/set 1000 system/user/file/msg/port
    variables.)
7) You can pick '1-user-access' or 'multi-user-access' in #4-#6.
8) You choose the filenames in all of the above.
9) You choose the full file-paths in all of the above.
10) You can pass options and variables to all of the above.
11) You can pass (500) real-time expanded variables to all of the above.
12) And, get this, not 'wedge-in' at 20-40 various places.
Not 50-100 places. Not 100-200 places. But *1500-2000* places.
(Most BBS authors could even THINK of 2000 different places.)

Heck, you could put together a pretty extensive BBS just with this
one 'display some text' feature.

CNet does this in many areas:
"Start with a great idea as featured on the best, most extensive BBS
software ever written and make it 100x more extensive."
