I received such fantastic replies about the Crater Lake pics I did,
with Scenery Animator II, so I did some more. The first pic in this
archive was rendered from a random seed. After playing around with map
location, etc. I rendered it in full overscan with all the options ON
(except sky blending). After a friend said that, "it's a shame that SA2
won't render a night sky," I decided to see how hard it would be to
modify a picture.

So LAKE.DAY was loaded into DeluxePaintIV. I tried various effects
with no avail. None of them did exactly what I wanted. I finally went
into the palette requester and just lowered the VALUE setting of each
color by half. I then deleted all the clouds (I couldn't get them to
look like I wanted). This left the clouds' four palette positions open
to modification. I used a few gray shades for the stars and the moon
(the moon is a large circular brush with some chicken-scratch gray
thrown in). The campfire came about for fun. Did you see it? Turn on
color cycling and look in the lower left area of the picture. I found
that a few colors had become black in the transition to night. So I
turned them to orange and remapped the picture. This left me with the
three shades of orange that I needed for the flame.

I hope you enjoy these pictures. I learn more about these programs
playing around like this. If you have any comments or questions, send
me some E-Mail. Enjoy,

                                                  Mark Raymond
