Llamatron Update (Revision #2) - by David Kinder
------------------------------------------------

Introduction
------------

One of my favourite games on the Amiga is Jeff Minter's shareware release
'Llamatron', but it doesn't run under Kickstart 2.0 or higher. A bit of
experimentation showed that it was the loader programs ('LLAMA' and
'LLAMA512') that were at fault. Thus I have written my own replacements.

Use
---

Make a copy of your Llamatron disk, then replace the files 'LLAMA' and
'LLAMA512' with the files included here. The new loaders have been tested
on an A1200 running Kickstarts 39.106, 37.175 and 34.5 (the last two via
SKick 3.43). I would be very interested to here how these loaders perform
on any other machines. As an added bonus, these loaders also run from
Workbench, so you can start Llamatron from an icon, provided that either

	LLAMA or	LLAMA512
	LLAMA.INFO LLAMA512.INFO
	TRON1MEG TRON512

are all in the same directory. The files 'TRON512' and 'TRON1MEG' are the
main game files.

About Revision 2
----------------

This release corrects a problem on Amigas with the VBR set to an address
other than 0x00000000. Thanks to Thomas Baetzler, who pointed this out
to me.

Caveats
-------

I have had some problems with LLAMA512, with the game screen being corrupted
occasionally. This happens especially if the Amiga has just been switched
on. I have no idea why, especially as LLAMA works fine and the code of the
two loaders is practically identical. However, I don't consider this serious
as almost everyone has at least 1Meg these days.

Llamatron's initial sound sample sometimes did not play properly on my
A1200. I have fixed this by issuing a CMD_RESET to the audio.device. Let me
know if this does not fix the problem on any other machines.

Final Note
----------

Support shareware! If you didn't send money to Jeff for Llamatron because it
doesn't run on your new machine, you've no excuse now. If enough people
support shareware we might see more games of this quality released in this
way.
