                       Welcome to InterChess! v5.6

Moving your pieces is very simple. The chess board is labeled in standard
chess notation, where the X coordinates are the letters A-H, and the Y
coordinates are the numbers 1-8. First enter the coordinates of the piece
you wish to move. If you have entered improper coordinates for one of your
own pieces, the program will back the cursor up so you can re-enter them
correctly. When you have chosen a piece to move the program will show you
a dash ('-'), indicating that you should enter the destination coordinates
of the chosen piece. The program will not allow you to make illegal moves.

IF A CASTLING MOVE IS STILL LEGAL, you must move your king to the resultant
square; the corresponding rook will be moved for you.

The program will notify you when you are in CHECK. A CHECKMATED PLAYER
must concede the game to end it. Concede a game at any time by hitting an
exclamation mark ('!') at the beginning of your turn.

Names >14 chrts will safely be trunkacted for saving. When you go to save a
game's FIRST move, you will be asked if you want to use your Handle instead of
your Real Name. The program will find your handle games even if you log on
with real name. This feature is for Starnet only.

When playing line to line games.. ie. line 1 playing against someone that is
logged onto either another phone line or the local line 0, you may use the
'/' key to bring up the game as soon as you are notified that it is your turn.
When you aren't in a line to line game hitting the '/' will quit for you the
same as hitting return always did.

Reminder messages can now be sent by simply typing in your opponents Handle or
Real Name (which ever was used in the game) at the Opponents NAME>? prompt.
This will make the InterChess program tell you that there is a game started
already with that person but that it is not your turn. Then InterChess will
ask if you want a reminder note sent.

A Sysop Mode has been added. If you have Sysop configured access you can list
out the directory of games that have been saved. Other features will follow
for the REGISTERED versions and are in Italic for now.

Play well, and have fun!
