                             DLG & UUCP 1.16d

This file will be an attempt to to use DLG and UUCP 1.16
to feed another site while running TrapDoor. While at first
this might seem rather complicated it will turn out to be
not to bad, if you have already setup up UUCP on your system
and have read the first text file that was sent out.

The first thing that will need to be done is to set up a
"Client" account on your system for the person that you want
to feed. This should be done the same way as you would
manually enter any new user in the Sysop User Editor "A" for
add, the only differences will be the user name should only
be one name and the UUCP Client Flag will need to be set.
Once this is done that pretty much is all that needs to be
done from within DLG the rest is done the the UUCP package.

There are only a couple of config files that need to be
changed here and they can be found in UULIB: the first one
is the SYS file this is the file that decides which
NEWSGROUPS will be sent from you to your downstream site.

       SYS
       ---
van-bc:*

friend:*,-alt.sys.amiga.demos

This file basically works like the DLGMail.are file in
FidoNet in that it tells the software which NEWSGROUPS to
send to who. The first entry is my primary feed in which
all NEWSGROUPS are sent to and from much the same as a HUB,
and this is denoted from the wild card "*" means send all
new News that was posted on my system back to van-bc and to
friend, except the alt.sys.amiga.demos NEWSGROUP as my
friend is not interested in this Group, and then
understanding that you can see that all NEWSGROUPS that are
sent to my system will be be sent to friend as well except
the alt.sys.amiga.demos group. (For more information on
       this read fileUUCP:man/sys.)

The sys file on "friend" site will have to set up his
site except with the single entry of your site name and the
wild cards "*" meaning that every thing that he writes gets
       exported back to your site.

eg
.
amsbbs:*

thats it, unless he is feeding somebody else.

friend   Any SER: 19200 5970730 BBS. !! => A500 => test\r

This is the config file that your system uses to do the
Login, these entries are CASE sensitive and there are no
white spaces allowed. Both your system and the system that
you will be feeding will need similar entries in this file.
In your L.sys file you will at least to entries one will be
for your feed and the other will be for your downstream
feed. The top line is for my feed and is basically the same
as the bottom one, except the bottom one answers a few more
prompts and is the one that gets you through Trapdoor.

The bottom line is the line that your downstream feed
should have set up as well as yourself is you to are getting
       feed off a DLG/TrapDoor site.

This is an example of the downstream L.sys entry.

    1. your site name
    2. time of day to make calls
    3. not used
    4. baud rate
    5. your phone number
    6. this is the first prompt that the system expects and waits for and
its what Trapdoor sends "Please press escape twice to enter BBS."
                                                                   ^^^^
    7. this is what his system sends yours !! in the Trapdoor.cfg file you
can set the alternate character to launch the BBS, mine is the !. So
you just set this to whatever character you have set.
    8. this is the "Please enter your FIRST & LAST name =>" prompt.
                                                        ^^
    9. this is the user name that you set up in the beginning as a Client
account which is sent in response to the enter name prompt.
   10. this is the Please enter your Password => prompt.
                                              ^^
   11. this is the password that was also set up in the Client account with
the \r is simply a CR

As before and always read you provided documentation in
the UUCP:man/ directory for more detailed information.

You will also have to make sure that any of the
NEWSGROUPS that you plan on carrying and/or feeding
downstream are in listed in your UULIB:newsgroups file.

The above information should help you connecting to your
feed if they are using DLG/Trapdoor and also help you out in
setting yourself as a feed for someone downstream.
