Aladdin 4D Q & A Fact Sheet Q. What type of Amiga will Aladdin 4D run on? A. Aladdin 4D has very modest requirements for a full featured 3D package. It requires a least a 68020 processor with a math coprocessor chip, 4mb of Fast RAM, 1mb of Chip RAM, 10 megabytes of hard drive space, and AmigaDOS 2.1 or higher. This allows Aladdin 4D to run on most Amiga owners systems - not just a power-user's configuration! Q. What's the best Amiga configuration for Aladdin 4D? A. An Amiga 4000 tower with a 68060 accelerator, 32 megabytes of Fast RAM, 2 megabytes of Chip RAM, Cybervision 64/3D card or Picasso IV, and a large hard drive. A method of replaying your animations in full color is also recommended. We use the old reliable PAR card from DPS, Vlab Motion/DraCo also work well. You can even use a DCTV if you like! Q. Will Aladdin 4D run on an Amiga with a 68060 processor? A. Definitely. We do not currently ship a 68060 optimized version, as there are no compilers at the time of this writing that optimize fully for the 68060. The 68040 version that ships with Aladdin 4D will run faster on a 68060 though! We do plan to offer a 68060 version as soon as the compiler technology makes it worth shipping. Q. Why would the average Amiga owner want to buy Aladdin 4D? A. Price and Performance. Aladdin 4D is priced within the reach of anyone interested in 3D graphics from the novice to the experienced professional alike. Aladdin 4D is one of the easiest to use 3D packages available for the Amiga and it also comes with tools like particle systems (for creating smoke, fireworks, bubbles - and more!) that professionals will love. Q. Will Aladdin 4D be available for PPC? A. We're researching this now. We have had a Phase 5 PPC card from the first - but it took a while for something other than GNU C/C++ to be available for it for development. When we do release a PPC software package we want it to be something amazing, so we're going to take our time and do it right. This applies to all of our packages that may see PPC development. Q. Does Aladdin 4D work with CyberGraphX? The Video Toaster? The DraCo? A. Naturally! You should have no problems working on CyberGraphX screens and on the DraCo computer. Aladdin 4D can render directly to the Toaster display and can load and save framestores as well. Q. What does Aladdin cost? A. Aladdin 4D has a suggested retail price of $279.95 but is typically available for under $200 through your local dealer or most mail order houses. Owners of older versions of Aladdin 4D can upgrade for only $99.95 however! Prices in other countries may vary - check with your local distributor of Nova Design, Inc. products for the current price.
