Rules
Please note that the rules assume you to be familiar with Oliver Robert's
F1GP Editor V3.x, because this tool provides all the patches currently
relevant and the accompanying terminology. Refer to either Aminet
(game/misc) or Oliver's Amiga F1GP web site for your copy.
General Rules
- Qualifying Times (race times are theoretically slower)
- Q-Compound Tyres
- Ace Difficulty Level (no driving aids)
- Digital Joystick
'Options' allow for deviations from these standards. Players should always
send in the options they used.
- No cutting corners
- No slipstreaming
To prevent slipstreaming you should use version 3.14, or above, of F1GP-Ed
to select only one team. By doing so, only your car will get on the track.
If you decide to leave things as they are, you are simply not allowed to
send in any times you set with slipstreaming.
Also, setting your records by saving the game before each corner and
perfecting that section is not allowed. Although it's a very efficient
method, you must set your records in one go. If you want to see where you
went wrong, use Splittime by Rene Smit, or AGPPerf by Grant Reeve. Saving
just before finishing your warm-up lap is allowed, however. In addition, you
are also allowed to use the position snapshot keys at the end of your warm
up, just as long as you do so before the last corner for which you have to
brake.
F1GP-ED RULES
To save space, I will only describe what is either not to be used/altered or
what must be used.
FILE EDITORS
- Car Control: If you use the twin button option, add the '2' option.
- Standard Options: Remember that you should be racing at ACE level, so set
the 'Opposition Standard' (Race Options) and the 'Help Options' accordingly,
or include the relevant options with your times.
- In-Game Prefs: If you're racing for the HoF, the 'Frames/sec' should not be
set higher than 10 fps. This is a pity for the owners of fast Amigas, but
higher frame-rates influences the car's behaviour, allowing you to set
artificially fast times. 10 fps is sustainable on all Amiga models, and thus
gives everybody an equal chance. 'Car Fragility' should be kept standard, or
set with the 199x datafile (which actually makes your car a bit more
fragile). Setting the 'Practice Fuel Load' to 0 laps is allowed.
- Cheats: 'All Driving Aids' is not allowed. If you still use them, make sure
you turn everything off when you race for the HoF, or include the relevant
options. 'Q Tyres in Practice' and 'Unlimited Q Tyres' are allowed. 'Use
Team HP' is not allowed. 'Degrade HP' is allowed, but you are advised to
turn this off so that you have 716 HP available during every session.
'Player HP' must be kept at 716.
MEMORY PATCHES
- Car Control: You are advised to install all routines and turn traction
control off if you prefer that (only from v3.01 onward). As mentioned
above 'Position Snapshot Keys' are allowed under certain conditions.
- Information: While competing for the HoF, stay away from the keys that alter
the game speed. To play safe, you shouldn't 'Enable Turbo Keys'.
- Miscellaneous: 'Less cars in races?' should be used to remove all computer
cars from qualifying sessions.
