Razor is a new shoot-em-up that goes back to the old days, the good old 2D
shoot-em-up. It is being developed by a Brazilian Amiga user called Dante
Mendes
Razor is a horizontially strolling game with quite a resemablace to games like
R-Type and Project-X. After playing the demo I have to say that the graphics
are excellent and even at this stage the game plays very well.
To run the game requires a base A1200 with at least some Fast RAM. However, it recommends
that you also have some kind of accelerator. The game runs very smooth on my
030/50Mhz, I haven't had a chance to try on any other machine so I can't
comment on it's speed.
Like I said before the graphics look excellent allthough tt the moment only the
background graphics are rendered, in the full game, however, all the graphics
should be rendered, this should make the game look excellent at least.
The full game when its released (Probably as shareware) will feature a lot more
on top of what the demo contains. As well as offering a massive amount of
different weapons, there will also be intro and ending sequences, more music and
SFX and also the option to choose your path as you play the game.
Hopefully the game will be released in about 3-4 months, look out for more info
nearer this time...
A demo of the game is available on Aminet and can be downloaded by clicking on
the link below.
STOP PRESS:- After writing this I have been given some updated information
on the plans for the game. Razor will infact now be two games, this is due to
the fact that the graphics artist has decided to make top down graphics now
instead of side-view graphics. The game author will now use all the side-view graphics
that he currently has and release it as shareware, probably next month. Then
when the top down graphics are finished (They apparently look mush better) The
author will write a new engine and release it as a sequel (Maybe
commercially)
