Teachers at the school try to convince other people he is learning something, but this is complete fabrication.
Also, he plays the flute to Grade 5/6 standard, and doesn`t play the guitar at all. At least, he shouldn`t. He also takes part in debates, using his persuaviveness and roguish good looks to... <Hey you, get out of here!>.
Highlights of his short and mostly un-interesting life include:

Receiving a commendation in the 1995 Pushkin Prizes (Scotland)
Appearing in the title role of the 1997 Trinity High production of the "King And I"

He tries desperately to convince people he can act and sing. He can`t
Chris Hanretty first met the Amiga sometime circa 1990 (it was all so long a go now..), when Commodore still had a (relatively) good name. He met his 500+ by reason that it could "do games and also serious stuff". This was the first mistake made by his father.
His 500+ died in 1995, just as he was beginning to discover that he could fill up floppy disks with modplayers, and use it for serious stuff too.
Then, by lying cheating and stealing, he convinced his parents to get him an Amiga 1200HD in the Escom era. Then of course, he realised that he couldn`t do much without more memory, and also why not, a faster processor. This led him to getting a Viper MkII 33 Mhz with 4Mbs of Fast RAM. And for a short while milk and honey flowed verily in the land of 1230/33/4Mb/170MbHD. And then, things started to go wrong
If you see this man, be wary. He is not armed, but is still considered extremely dangerous. He would kill to get his hands on a 4000T.

General Likes and Not-likes

Television Likes:
Star Trek, Babylon 5, The X-Files. That makes me out to be some kind of scifi nut. I`m not really
Television notlikes:
All chat shows. Over acted period dramas. Channel 5 :-)
By the bedside table at the moment:
Flaubert`s Madame Bovary, Primary Colours, just because I can`t find a space for it on my bookshelf, and finally, not actually on the bedside table, but in the computer`s hard drive, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance. Or ZAOMM for short.
Music

<img src="Graphics/beherenow.gif" alt="Album Cover" width=200 h!eight=100>

Oasis:Be Here Now
Sometimes dirgelike, never innovative, but I like it all the same. Yes, it might be retro, but when it`s this good, who cares?
Only downers - the last track It's A Beautiful Thing is pants. It sounds like some 80`s with Michael Bolton and Tina Turner. Well, maybe not

Note:
Obviously, if I had more money than I do have, I would also have Radish`s Restraining Bolt, Radiohead`s OK Computer, which I frequently say to my own temperamental machine, U2`s Pop, Travis`s debut album.......

I also like spinning on swivel chairs :-)

The other freak
also known as: Erik Elgersma

 Name: Erik Elgersma
Age: wouldn't you like to know
Also known as: Patient 1027b or Tricky Dickie
Residence: an asylum somewhere in Holland
Before being removed from society for his own safety (offences include shouting "I've got an Amiga, your PCs are useless" at PC shows and conventions) patient 1027b was in his penultimate year of his VWO study at Sancta Maria High School, where he studied Maths, Economics, Accounting, History, Geography, Dutch , English and French. Speculated interests and hobbies include football, horse riding and windsurfing. All we otherwise know of this rogue civilian is that he first owned an Amiga 500Plus in 1995, having been introduced to the Amiga a few years earlier. The user-friendliness and resourcefulness of that little box impressed him so much that the Amiga quickly became a total obsession for him, the A500Plus became an accelerated A1200 and now there's no application left untouched by him and his Amiga. This guy truly is a phenomenon. Although patient 1027b is not dangerous to ordinary members of the public, PC owners better beware and steer well clear of him.

Home

Contents
