Why the Amiga ?

Many people keep asking me why I still use my Amiga..after all..I need a PC to do everything computer related, right ???? As far as they know, the Amiga is a game machine that died with the Mega-Drive and SNES. They think CD-ROMs, harddrives, printers and yes, the internet is nowhere near the reach to an Amiga. This in its self is just the lack of knowlegde that makes the PeeCee what it is today (and the lack of advertising on Commodores part).

Why the hell should I pay several thousand quid to do what my Amiga can do better at a mere portion of the price? I shouldn't, and that's why I don't. I've tried many different aspects of computing on PeeCees, and I can most certainly say that it hasn't been anywhere near as good as on my "games machine". This is even more noticable when using Internet software. Despite the fact that the PeeCee is now regarded as the machine to use for Internet access, all the software I tried was not a patch on the many Amiga SHAREWARE or FREEWARE titles. For example, AmIRC is miles ahead of mIRC, not only in being ALOT easier to use, but also because it has many more features, and is overall a much friendlier system. Nutscrape also is still far behind IBrowse..ok so Nutscrape does all the fancy Java crap..but IBrowse at least shows web pages properly, or gives you the option to..

Another thing that sets the Amiga apart from the PeeCee is its use of memory. Ask any PeeCee user if he/she is still using 4 Meg on his/her machine and they will laugh at you until the 'cows come home'. But if every Amiga user used 4 Meg they would be able to run alsorts of programs without a glinch. Ok, 4 Meg is 4 Meg you cant get around that Amigas use memory as if it was gold.

Oh yeah, before I forget, Windoze 95, bah, If Workbench had even a pinch of the (over) hipe then Windoze 95 wouldnt even be used today! Everything Windoze has the Amiga had 10 years ago, so none of it is new and improved. Windoze 95 ? Dont make me laugh, more like, hey I need 32 Meg and 5 gig hard drive to run properly, and if I want to multitask properly please dont run 2 programs at once !!!!

So there...

My current Amiga setup is:
