Update 27/11/97

Thanks to everybody whos replied to the survey, I've listened to all your suggestions and comments. Please keep them coming!. In short Amiga News Central will continue in the form described below. I've been working on a new design for the website and email newsletter and I should have something to show early next week. Those who subscribed to the newsletter will receice notification of this the minute it is done. The survey will be online for a further week as described below and re commencement of Amiga Central should kick off very soon after that.

To give everybody a chance to visit and reply this will be online until December 3. If feedback is overwhelmingly postive operation may begin earlier.

The old news is available from the News Archive (also accessible through the left toolbar).

Why I stopped Amiga News Central:

To skip this waffle click here.

I started AmigaCentral to basically learn HTML but before long I found hits to my page were increasing and I felt more pressure to perform, to satisfy demand and make people revisit. All of a sudden it wasn't an exercise in education or a hobby but an obsession. I spent up to 3 hours a day sourcing news, scouring the net and keeping in contact with the newsmakers. I began ignoring other aspects of my life like sleeping ;). On top of that I'm in my last year at school which has also been very hectic and I'm facing higher education next year which will promises much the same.

However the amount of emails and their content really stunned me, I never realised how highly some people regarded Amiga News Central. In short I'm humbled. So I've decided to continue Amiga News Central with some alterations.

The Proposal:

Basically daily news roundups are dead. I'm thinking more along the lines of a weekly news roundup containing all the latest news and rumours plus something I've always wanted to explore further, commentary.

Whatever the decision on the future of Amiga News Central, the rest of Amiga Central WILL continue as is.

The Content & Format:

News updates will be reported in a new easier to navigate newspaper/newsletter type format. There will be the same amount of coverage with the possibly of in depth investigations on important news. There will be a section in the update which will specifically cater for late breaking news, this will be a very short summary with a proper report in the next update.

A large part of the new design will be an "Amiga Central Updates" email newsletter which will inform you of when AmigaCentral is updated, outline the stories and also announce updates and additions to the other parts of AmigaCental. This will be sent to all subscribers every time Amiga News Central is updated. There is also the possibility of a very interesting project involving IRC but I wont speak on this till it is all sorted out.

Your Feedback:

Unfortunately I realise this isn't everybodies piece of cake but it is at the moment the best I can do. There is the prospect of more updates and content but I'm not in making promises I cant follow through with. Whatever your thoughts please express them so I know I'm not wasting mine and your time.
