The software is identical to the commercial version. Some files (pictures, data files, languages, etc.) have in part been changed to fit on a single disk. A description of new features of Personal Paint 7 is also enclosed[, while a special upgrade offer to the full version 7 package (CD-ROM or floppy disk) appears on the same issue of Magazyn Amiga***]. In Personal Paint 6.4, the Polish user interface is activated by selecting the "Custom" language in the Settings menu. Hard Disk Installation To install Personal Paint 6.4 to your hard disk, just open the Workbench window of the destination directory, and drag-and-drop the floppy disk icon into it. Personal Paint does not require any particular Assign instructions to run, although assigning the logical name "PPaint" to the program directory is useful to tell the system where to look for Personal Paint when an artwork file is double-clicked on. If, for example, the "PPaint" drawer is installed in the partition named "Work", you could add the following command to the "S:user-startup" file: Assign PPaint: Work:PPaint Personal Paint also runs directly from the cover disk (without hard disk installation). In order to make the software fit on a single floppy disk, the Personal Paint program file has been compressed using the Imploder software. When you double-click on the "PPaint" program icon, the software is decompressed automatically. If you installed the software to your hard drive, you may want to decompress the program file, so that it can load faster and using less memory (since it does not have to be decompressed each time it is run). To create a decompressed executable file, type the following command in a Shell window (assuming that the software is in "Work:PPaint"): CD Work:PPaint Deplode PPaint Visit Cloanto on the World Wide Web and on Aminet! Famous Amiga artists like Jim Sachs participated with a selection of their best Amiga art. Also included, a compilation of animations by Eric Schwartz, for the first time in IFF ANIM format. Presenting The Kara Collection CD-ROM It took 10 years of hard work to create the superb art which is contained on this CD-ROM. The Kara Collection includes all packages previously published by Kara Computer Graphics for the Amiga, plus many more, in an exclusive and professional edition reorganized and enhanced by Cloanto. This CD-ROM contains 80 ColorFonts (including effects like brick, glass, chrome, chisel, etc.), 5 AnimFonts (handwriting, rotating characters, static wipes, sparkles, etc.), hundreds of alternate colour palettes, Starfields (moving stars seen from different perspectives), Plaquegrounds (backgrounds such as granite, marble, sand-stone, wood, etc.), and software for special effects in pictures, animations, titling and presentations. All items for solo or combined use. The Kara Collection also includes two software packages developed by Cloanto to manage bitmapped fonts: ColorType for colour fonts and the Personal Fonts Maker for black and white fonts. Both have been acclaimed as the best in their respective fields. To make AnimFonts really easy and enjoyable to use, we created an ARexx program for Personal Paint, which renders any string of characters into animated text. As Kara says, "So long to the laborious task of placing individual letters... This is the way AnimFonts were meant to be!!!"
