The Campaign's Workings
How is this campaign going to work though?

The first thing that needs to be done is the creation of a new folder on the Aminet.

To create a new folder on the Aminet, all we need to do is to get 40 seperate files together that come under the category "misc/kids"

Obviously, collecting all this software together is a main priority, and is indeed the first task to be performed in this campaign. How this can be done (and how YOU can help) is covered in the section let's do it!!.

How will it promote children's software?

By creating a new section on the Aminet, we will not only be creating a new folder, but a new awareness of the software that will be placed in this folder.

The creation of a new folder itself will generate a lot of interest (including a mention in magazines with readerships well in excess of 25,000 people!!).

This interest will, in turn, result in a large number of people having a look at the contents of this new folder. It therefore stands to reason that any software in this folder will be seen by a lot more people than if it was merely submitted to a few PD suppliers or the like.

Currently, children's software isn't very easy to find on the internet - very little software for kids is uploaded to the Aminet, probably because it would normally end up in the misc/edu section which isn't normally where it belongs.

By creating a new folder, and arranging a reasonable amount of software to go into this folder, children will suddenly find using their Amigas a lot more fun and their parents will suddenly be able to find software for them much more easily.

By creating this standard platform for children's software, this area of Amiga software will finally find its deserved place under the public eye from which it can grow along with our great computer.

Any new releases will now get more coverage, better publicity and access to a much larger (and happier) user base.

Competing in a World of PCs

In order to compete in a PC dominated market, the Amiga can't have major failings like the lack of support for children. Most PCs today are advertised as being "Family PCs" as that is the type of computer the general public wants - something for all the family.

By creating a standard platform for children's software on the Amiga, children's software will be made more available to the Amiga Community.

As a result, a renewed spirit of enthusiasm about children's software on the Amiga will encourage programmers to upgrade their existing software and write new software.

We hope that this renewed enthusiasm will also encourage programmers to co-operate more in abid to create some truly excellent, world-beating software (Just take a look at the software CP, also supported at this site!!).
