WEB WATCH In the first of a new series (by me of course) here's my guide to some top sites of the World Wide Web! Have you ever wondered where you can get your chance to slap a spice girl? Or where you can find out the lyrics to your favourite song on the internet? Then stick around, print this out, or write it on the dog, or ANYTHING!! So with out further ado let's have a look at the top sites of the day! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firstly there's a lot of SPICE hate pages on the internet, 8 of them in fact on the last count, and more are springing up all the time. The original site was the "Spice girls hate organisation", and it is probably the best of the 8 sites. Set up by a 17 year old Nottingham boy, who originally decided to set this up to show his upset with the music industries puppets, and to do something interesting with his internet space. And he's done a good job, Lot's of funny things in here, such as some exclusive photos of Geri with out the makeup, Victoria before the operation, and Emma looking a bit horny, as in she's actually got horns, so she's not as nice as she makes out. Plus the song lyrics to all their songs to date, and some news on their latest behind the scenes activities, hmmn. All very well organised, with some nice pictures, and links to other spice hate pages, so check it out: ourworld.compuservecom/homepages/chimera ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next up in the Spice girls hate movement comes the the imaginatively titled "Spice girls hate page", set up by Nick & Dave, and there's plenty of spicist views on here, plus feedback from quite a substantial number of spice lovers who hurl abuse at Nick and Dave for setting this site up, but apparently they have had more people who hate the spice girls email them. But unfortunetly the 'spice hate' feedback page didn't actualy work, so were they telling us a big sack of porkies? Probably not, but it still doesn't work. The highlight of the site for me, was the top 20 things to do with a Spice girls CD, well... it say's top 20, but there's almost a hundred of them, because the readers have their chance to supply additions, and they have. Notable things to inflict on your "Say you'll be there" single: Use it as a frisbee for your pet ferret. A ring for your middle finger A toilet flushing tester Clay pigions at the rod and gun club Learn to lip-sync in 3 easy lessons using their video Something to keep vampires away Something to scare kids away on halloween ( hey you get more sweets your self that way too) Or parents could use it as an excuse for their kids to practise their music intrument playing, "if you don't practise, this will happen to you!" Overall a great site, highly reccomended: www.loom.net.au/jub-jub/sghp.htm --------------------------------------------------------------------------- And if you wanted to see what position the latest spice girls offering is at in the UK charts, then what better place to go than the UK Top 40 site?: This site has quite a bit on offer, it lists the top 40 selling singles of the week, the top 20 albums, and the predictions for next week. It also has a special history section to show you what the top 20 was looking like, this week in... There's also lyrics available for you too see for some of the more difficult tunes. Very good: members.aol.com/dwright330/charts.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- And finally, if you are looking for lyrics for a hard to hear song, then there's a special place on the internet that tells you the lyrics to thousands of popular songs. Using simple search techniques it can bring you the lyrics to your fave songs onto your screen, so then you can be one of these annoying people who goes around correcting people when they're singing a song incorrectly, but what on Earth are the lyircs for "DJ Supreme"? Not surpsingly that song isn't on this site. But notoriously difficult songs to distinguish such as Manfred Mans Earth band with Blinded by the light are on here, so it's worth checking. It uses simple searching as well, so you can either enter just the title of the song, or a word from the title, or the artist, or even the album the songs from, and it will bring up all matches it has. Definately a top site: www.lyrics.com That's it for now, more top sites soon, oh what? You want to know where you can slap a spice girl? Ok then : www.head-space.com/urban75/spice.html I'm waiting for the addition where the spice girls slap back, so then you can literally say that Geri's a slapper with out the fear of getting into trouble. Back next ish of RIPMAG for more great sites! (hopefully) Dan Wood +RIPMAG+
