LASER PENS

Any one else seen these things?  If you haven't, then you must have been
in a shell for the last 3 months.  

I first laid eyes on one of these when I was on holiday in Spain back in
August.  Before I went away I had never seen one.  then I saw a little
kid with one, and thought "wow, they look pretty cool".  Sad I know, but
i thought it would be a laugh, because no-one knew what they were at the
time.

So I went to a shop, and bought one for a few thousand pasetas, roughly
about £30, which is quite pricey, but I thought "what the hell, I'm on
holiday".

Then no sooner had I bought one, when lots of people had them.  They became
annoying.  I originally bought one to shine at my mates from the other
side of the room, and those funny nights we spent on our balcony at 3 in the
morning puzzling the Germans in the apartment at the other side of the pool.

But when all the kids had them, and were shining them everywhere, with in
a week, my prank was over, every one knew what they were!  But I did manage
to get a great scam in.

One night, when we came in, our first night there in fact, so we went in a 
11 to get over the jetlag (I bought the pen on the first day there).  We
looked over the balcony and on the bottom floor a man was standing out
on his patio looking at the pool.  So I thought how funny it would be to
shine it on the ground in front of him, and then slowly move it around the
pool (because these can go fucking far!).  Then he was looking everywhere
to find the source of this light.  I quickly got my mates, and they all
silently looked over, and tried not to laugh.  

So there we go again, shine the light on the apartments about 500 metres away!
Yes they can go that far, and he was looking at it, as it slowly moved down
the walls, to the pool, across the ground towards him, by now he had his
entire family out on the patio looking at it.

Then I return to England under the impression no one will have heard of them
here... WRONG!  Every little brat has one, and there's a big deal over them,
they're on TV, in papers, and they're no fun, they're just annoying.  As ever
a cool scam, ruined by the masses.
