q-nolan-cdsquirrel README When running Quake I found that it didn't always do the CD-Audio because it was using cd.device. OK, sometimes you don't want the cd-audio since it gives you the creeps after a while, but... There are several start-icons provided with the normal installation which switch various internal options. I created this start-icon to work with my SCSI-cdrom which is at address 3 on my Squirrel interface. It works every time now. If you have experienced similar problems, you may want to try this.. To "install", drag the "q-nolan-cdsquirrel" icon into your quake drawer to keep all the other "q-..." icons company. If your setup is the same as mine, simply use this icon to start quake in non-networked mode. If not, edit the file and you can replace "squirrelscsi.device" and unit "3" with whatever is suitable for your setup. (Rename the icon to what you like...) Note that you may wish to un-comment (remove the semicolon) the lines which automatically add and remove 300 buffers from the drive to get better load speeds. You may have to change the drive name from "dh1:" to whichever of your drive partitions Quake is on. If this doesn't work for you, read the "QuakeParameters" file provided with Quake to see what you might do. Happy shooting.. Ian..
