Info about OctaMED SoundStudio 2 for the Amiga

Last revised: 21 12 1997

Background
You may be aware of the fact that Octamed Sound Studio's original author Teijo Kinnunen gave up developing the OCSS for Amiga and moved on to create the software for the PCs (Windows).

OCSS Amiga version is not cancelled however. The source was licenced to the Kato Development group most known from the Melody Sound board (and later of the Melody 1200 - version). Joern Plewka is the head of the development of the upcoming OCSS 2 version. Since there has been a lot of enquiries about the next version of OCSS. Here are some of the answers.

Amiga Author speaks:

When?
JP: Not yet, not in January...maybe in february/march
Whats done for the new version?
JP: Cleanup, speedup on bigger machines, full 'non-custom-chipset' support, new drivers, new GUI.

Other stuff?
JP: We`re doing basic work at SS since a few weeks now. Mainly porting from ASM and C to (C++-style design) to get prepared for modern Amigas with different CPU...read: PowerPC. This includes removal of sligly _unclean_ code...

Even we`re doing new driver interfaces for soundboards (native support) and MIDI.

Currently we`re mainly doing a GUI based on Thorstens Class library, which will be different to delayed response of things like MUI. Expect it to use a very modern GUI while using Keyfeatures of the Amiga.

Please note that Kato will not be publishing the program as it is a copyrighted prog owned by RBF Software and you will need to contact them for price details.
