MUITapes
========

At first a little explanation: MUITapes is not localized yet. I hope
you will use though, because it is very easy to use and it is always
nice to learn some words of a different language :)

It is an expansion module for MUIVideo for the managment of
videotapes.

What is MUITapes?
-----------------

It is an expansion module for MUIVideo for the managment of
videotapes. MUIVideo is a database for the management of videofilms.
MUIVideo is in its management oriented at the films, different to some
other databases which are oriented at tapes. The ARexx-ports of both
programs are used for the datatransfer.

MUITapes is freeware, this means you can use it without paying a fee
for it. All rights of MUIVideo stay with the @{"author" LINK autor}. The files
of this distribution must not be changed in any way. Only the costs
for copying a disk may be charged for this program. 3,- DM or 2 US$
are enough for one copy.

Contribution over the Aminet, the CDs and disks of Fred Fish, the
Meeting Pearls CDs and the Amclust CD is allowed.

The author is not responsible for any damage caused by this program !

MUI is a system to generate and maintain graphical user interfaces. With
the  aid  of  a  preferences program, the user of an application has the
ability to customize the outfit according to his personal taste.

MUI is distributed as shareware. To obtain a complete package containing
lots of examples and more information about registration please look for
a  file  called  "muiXXusr.lha"  (XX means the latest version number) on
your local bulletin boards or on public domain disks.

System requirements
-------------------

MUITapes needs an Amiga with OS3.0 or better. It uses some systemfunctions
which are only available since this version.

MUITapes uses @{"MUI" LINK MUI}, this must be installed before MUITapes
can be started.

A processor >68000 or more meomory is not needed.

A harddisk is not necessary but strictly recommended.

MUITapes is a standalone program that also works without MUIVideo.
The sense of this program only comes up in teamwork with MUIVideo,
so you have to have to take care of the system requirements of
MUIVideo !

Installation of the program
---------------------------

To install MUITapes please copy the whole directory to your harddisk,
further steps like assigns are not necessary.

Since version 1.13 of MUIVideo MUITapes is included in the archive.
If you have followed the instructions in the MUIVideo.guide, MUITapes
is installed correctly.

Starting the program
--------------------

MUITapes can be started in different ways:

1. By doubleclicking the icon.

2. Through the shell by entering its directory and typing "MUITapes"
   followed by RETURN.

3. Via the ARexx-script "start_muitapes.rexx" of MUIVideo.

Please check the manual of @{"MUIVideo" LINK MUIVideo.guide/MAIN} how
to start an ARexxscript.

Parameters or tooltypes are not accepted by MUITapes.

List of tapesorts:
------------------

In this list the known sorts of tapes are shown. The list has three
columns: The first shows the brand, the second the quality and the
third the length. The fourth shows an internal number, the user has
no influence on it.

Clicking an entry copies the values of the first three columns in
the fields under the list.

If additionally an entry in the @{"List of tapes" LINK Tapes} (Bänder)
is selected, a link will be made. This means the tape is from now of a
selected type.

List of tapes (Bänder)
----------------------

In this list the known tapes are shown. The list has two columns, the
first one shows the tapenumber/tapename, the second shows an internal
number that cannot be influenced by the user. MUITapes uses this
numbers to connect the tapes and the @{"sort of tapes" LINK Arten}.

Clicking an entry copies the data into the @{"textfield" LINK EingabeTapes}
under the list so they can be changed here. If a @{"sort of tape" LINK Arten}
is selected for this tape, the corresponding entry will be activated.

Add a new sort of tapes
-----------------------

This button creates a new entry in the list of @{"Bandarten" LINK Arten}.
You can edit the data using the fields @{"Marke" LINK Marke} (brand),
@{"Qualität" LINK Qualitaet} (quality) and @{"Länge" LINK Laenge} (length).

Delete sort of tapes
--------------------

This button deletes an entry in the list @{"Bandarten" LINK Arten}.

Before deleting MUITapes tests whether in the list of tapes @{"Bänder" LINK Tapes}
are still entries that are linked to this entry. If this is the case
the program will show the number of tapes that still need this entry.

After a securityrequest the entry will be deleted.

Clicking this button opens a filerequester in which you can select a
file with the sort of tapes @{"Bandarten" LINK Arten}.

file in that MUITapes saves the sort of tapes.

The ARexx-port of MUITapes:
---------------------------

MUITapes is an "Add-On" for MUIVideo, so a big part of its
functionality depends on the communication betwenn the programs. This
communication is done via the ARexx-port.

If you don`t know what ARexx is or how to use it, please consult the
ARexx-manual. This is part of the systemmanuals since version 2.04.

The following is a description of the commands of the ARexx-port.
Besides this description MUITapes knows the standard commands of every
@{"MUI" LINK MUI}-program. A description of these commands can be
found in the documantation of MUI and MuiVideo.
