Reported by DK, April, 1996

Back in March, I was contacted by DK, who was helping a friend to open a new center in Fallon, Nevada, called Antrioch's Garden. In this center they wanted to share UFO and New Age/Spiritual information. DK saw my bi-monthly column in the "Leading Edge" called"UFO Update", and asked if I knew anyone interested in lecturing on UFOs. So we talked about it and at the end of June'96 I will be helping to open their center with a crystal skull and UFO talk (see details).

In any case, DK decided to head out to the special ceremony that was conducted to change the name of Nevada Hiway 375 to "ET" Hiway and took some photos. He was helping his wife move to Las Vegas and passing through Rachael, Nevada, was on his way. So please find enclosed a few notes from DK about the ceremony as well as some additional information I found in a UFO newsgroup.

Enjoy ..... Illinois

Joshua,

... I helped move my kids and their mom to LV Tuesday. I left LV Thursday morning and decided to drive home by going through Rachel,Nevada. What a media circus they had going on there that day!

Nevada Governor Bob Miller was dedicating the road as "THE ET HIGHWAY". It was all a promotional gimmick for the new FOX movie coming out on July 3rd called "Independence Day". They had the stars of the movie there: Jeff Goldblum,Brent Spiner and Bill Pullman.

They even erected a big road sign. I'll send you some pictures when I get them developed and maybe you can post them at your site.

Joshua,

The ET Highway:

The highway designation number is still 375. It's 'official' nickname is 'The Extraterrestial Highway'.

To get there from Las Vegas you take Hwy 15 northeast.About 22 miles out you exit onto Hwy 93.This 2 lane road heads in a more northernly direction. After traveling about 85 miles, and traveling through the small towns of Alamo and Ash Springs (Don't blink or you'll miss them) you come to a point where Hwy 93 turns to the east towards Utah. At this point turn onto the road heading west. This is the start of Hwy 375 - The ET Highway. From here the ET Hwy turns southwest (actually aiming towards Groom Lake) and winds through some small mtns. It's here where you'll see the yellow,diamond-shaped sign showing abductions for the "next 51 miles". After coming out of the mountains the road curves northwest. On the left will be the area where most sightings are made. This is where the infamous "mail-box road" is located. Keep traveling up over Coyote Summit and 36 miles after entering onto the ET Hwy you'll be in Rachel, Nevada.

Hwy 375 continues in a north-westernly direction for 46 miles and then turns west for another 16 miles before coming to Warm Springs. Thats's were it changes to Hwy 6.

I hope this helps. If you want I can send a map and also some other information that I received while I was there in Rachel.

Peace & Light,

E.T. HIGHWAY DEDICATION AND THE PROTEST

Glenn Campbell (aka Psycospy), a pouting child that is upset that he is not the center of attention, is at it again! His latest "concerns" are the cost to the public and the public's safety regarding the renaming of Nevada Highway 375 as the "Extraterrestrial Highway".

Campbell claims outrage over a trip that Nevada governor Bob Miller made to California recently to meet with motion picture company executives to coordinate details for the highway dedication ceremony and the movie company's publicity blitz for the movie "ID-4" (Independence Day). I do not know if the governor travelled at state expense or his own expense, but that really isn't the point. The motion picture's sneak preview in Las Vegas on the evening of April 17th, a major promotion at Planet Hollywood later that evening, and the hype connected with the highway dedication the following day in Rachel, Nevada will bring hundreds, if not thousands, of Californians to Nevada where they will obviously spend money - lots of money - for lodging, food, drink, gasoline, souvenirs, gambling, etc. - offsetting any small travel expense the governor may have incurred to help facilitate this event. This is part of the job that the governor was elected to do - promote his state!

In closing, I would like to bring an interesting point to everyone's attention: Glenn Campbell is now living in Las Vegas and is a member of the Las Vegas chapter of the Mutual UFO Network. He has written on the web and in his book that he has never seen a UFO. He goes to great lengths to explain away the sightings of others as flares and military air operations. While this probably is the case in a large percentage of the cases by inexperienced observers... not all of the sightings can be explained away. In the last year and a half, there have been at least a half a dozen significant UFO sightings near Area 51. At least two or three of these have been caught on video by television crews. If Mr. Campbell is honestly interested in these events, why did he move from Rachel to Las Vegas within two or three weeks after the Freedom Ridge and White Sides Mountain Area 51 viewpoints were taken by the Air Force? You don't have to be able to see the base itself to see what flies above it in the skies! Why did he join MUFON if he disbelieves in the existence of UFO's? Was he actually a government plant to generate an excuse to take the viewpoints? Is he now working to misdirect UFO enthusiasts from the areas they should be researching?
