Web Design History - September 9, 1997 ************************************ This is not complete but it will give you some hints. READ THE GUIDE if you want access to the many helpful things Web Design can do for you. v1.6w Fixed the big crash bug of 1.6u and 1.6v. What a dope! v1.6v Battle of the bugs continues but it seems as if we don't need to worry about the bad bugs byte for now. It seems. A new 'Project' menu function lets you select to return to the home directory that was selected in 'Go Configure'. I needed this while testing so I left it in just in case someone else might be able to use it. There are some file formats Web Design has a problem with and I send them to 'Ed' to reformat them. If you jump to 'Ed' just 'Save' the file in 'Ed' and 'Quit' 'Ed'. You can do this in 'Ed's' pulldown menu or just do this key combination: 1. Press Esc 2. Press x 3. Press RETURN ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ v1.6t Trying to recover from the "bug hell" the recent versions have created! v1.6s Fixed the bug in Load htm v1.6r Made Web Design a bit smarter. v1.6M Bug fixes. Added the ability to use background images in tables. Made the path configure look in the current directory instead of always going to Ram. v1.6L This fixes the cursor color problem caused by the great palette experiment. v1.6k This concludes the palette experiment v1.6j Minor extention of fantasy fix. v1.6i This version hopfully will fix a problem a few people have had with 1.6+ versions that caused an error at the "Go Configure" screen or when selecting the screen resolution from the "Go Configure" screen. Oh please please please let it be fixed as I can not get the error myself which makes it difficult to fix. This may even fix a problem a couple of people have had in the past that was similar. v1.6e Cleaned up a few things. If you are using Voyager or AWeb II for preview you may want to use the Load Preview Browser button on the Go Config screen to have them up and running and display your first preview. v1.6d With HappyDT installed you can have images sizes auto added to your docs. (Aminet util/cdity HappyDT.lha) Watch for the new version that is shareware with added features. WD now asks if you want to save changes after you have used preview. v1.6c Fixed the Workbench button bug. v1.6b Added width attribute for table header and data. Added hex read and edit to color selector. General house cleaning and bug fixes. v1.6 This version uses courier/11 and courier/13 font so you need to have this in your fonts directory. Unless you deleted this font it is already there and if you have just copy from your original disks. I fixed some more stuff. Bug fix v1.5e Fixed miss marked buttons for screen sizes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bug fix: v1.5d Fixed a possible problem with screen sizes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bug fix: v1.5c Fixed several bugs in the Links.(Full and Local URL) Added the ability to include or insert a Target into the Full and Local URL links. This will be helpful when working with frames. This command already existed in the frames menu but had a bug.(see guide) Added a new Screen pull down menu for quick access to the Go Configure and Workbench screens. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bug fix: v1.5b Fixed the new BGSound/EMBED bug I created in v1.5. Also added a requester for the Template button so unwanted templates aren't created when you miss the Preview button. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ New in v1.5 Replaces background images without the need to delete the previous image. Replace images without the need to delete the previous image manually.(see the guide for instuctions) When working with images/backgrounds it is now possible load an image from an outside directory and auto copy the gfx to the current directory. Add background colors to a complete table as well as individual colors for each header or data . (see guide for instructions) Insert mailto and http tags around existing text in a document. Choose whether to use the address as the hypertext or enter text.(see guide for instuctions) Fixed the text entry for colors so it works correctly. Fixed Insert, Inserthtml, Inserthtm so they don't cause Web Design to forget what file you are working with. Fixed path so it uses the information you enter on the GoConfig screen. (dah) Did some other stuff I can't remember right now. Please please please read the Key Commands info as well as all the other docs if you want to get the most out of Web Design. If you don't read the instruction some features will not work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Previously v1.4 allows the user to preview document changes by clicking the new preview button. The Go Configure screen allows the user to select the path for the browser or browsers that are used for previewing. The path to where docs and images etc is also set on this screen. Settings are saved if they are used. I have found Ibrowse 1.1 works best at this time for preview but AWeb and Voyager can also be used. I have found that AWeb works best if loaded at the Go Configure screen or it doesn't show your document the first time preview is used. After going back to Web Design and doing preview a second time AWeb loads the changes each time. I have tried many ways around this problem but haven't found the answer yet. Both Ibrowse and AWeb auto reload so the new changes are shown but I couldn't get Voyager to reload so you will need to click the Reload button in Voyager to see the new changes. F6 does the same thing the preview button does and F7 takes you back to the Web Design screen. Sometimes this doesn't work the first time the browser is loaded. I have Ibrowse and AWeb screens shrunk down so I can access the screens I have them on making it is easy to click between screens while Voyager works for me without doing this. If all else fails RIGHT and LEFT AMIGA keys plus m will get you back to Web Design. You are free to try new ideas without overwriting the current version of your document because the preview is a separate file and does not change the current version of your document until you actually Save the changes. This is the reason for the doc path config. I recommend using SaveAs because sometimes preview causes Web Design to forget what file you are working with but SaveAs keeps track of things. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It is now easier to make changes to font color and size. It is no longer necesary to delete previous settings. This also is true with BODY settings for text colors and background color. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Watch for updates and helpful hints on my home page. http://www.net-link.net/~lmcgahey/ I have docs in HTML format online as well as in AmigaGuide format for downloading. I have also made it possible now to press the HELP key for online help while using Web Design. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I would like to have your ideas and bug reports whether you have registered or not. If you use the program please leave the GENERATOR info in your docs like all those MS people do. Also if you use Web Design you might consider placing one of my "Created with Web Design" icons on your page and link to my site with the icon. URL: http://www.net-link.net/~lmcgahey/ Email: lmcgahey@net-link.net irc: yooper #amiga ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This program is shareware so if you use it please consider my time spent to save you time. Nothing is disabled so have fun. Suggested shareware amount is $25.00 Thank you to the people who have registered. Larry McGahey 6092 N 8th Street Kalamazoo, MI 49009 USA
