THE PUSH ----------- In this little trick, you are going to make your "victim" into the mind reader. Before you start, place one card out of a deck into an envelope and then seal it and place it where it can be plainly seen. Oh and by the way... it is much better if you have looked at the card and know what it is before sealing into the envelope... unless that is your a real psychic - then if so I wouldn't mind next weeks lottery jackpot numbers? Now to begin. Tell your friend that you have placed just one card into the envelope that he/she can clearly see is sealed. Then tell them that you will now push the card into their minds and you will make them pick one card from a deck based on their own free will of choice. You make them pick one card, eg Ace of Spades, which they have picked out seemingly at random. Go to the envelope and let them open it up to find ONE card inside. Lo and Behold, it will be the Ace of Spades. They will be pretty stunned. How is this achieved? Well, the reason this trick is called the push is because they are made to pick out the card that is in the envelope. Let us say that the card you placed into the envelope was the Eight of Diamonds. You ask them to pick 2 suits. If they pick hearts and spades, you say "Right, what does that leave you with?" They will tell you diamonds and clubs. If they chose diamonds and something else, you go to next paragraph. Either way they will now think they have picked diamonds and something else. Tell them to pick just one of them. If they pick the other suit, ask them what is left out of the two and they will say diamonds. You then say, "Right it's diamonds you have chosen." If they pick diamonds then you are okay to carry on because now, either way, you have manipulated them to pick diamonds. It may sound complicated at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes so easy. The next part is to manipulate them to pick the eight. Ask them to choose any six cards out of the diamonds suit. Tell them it will be much easier if they pick cards that run in order like A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Or 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K. Let's say they pick the first example. Obviously the eight is not there, so like manipulating the suit, you ask which cards are remaining and they will say 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K. If they chose the group already with the eight in, you can continue. Ask them to pick four out of the cards. Let's assume they pick 7, 9, Q, K. No 8, so you will have to ask them what it leaves them with and they will reply 8, 10, and J. If they chose four which included the eight, you carry on. Now ask them to choose 2 out of the remaining cards. Let's say they choose 10 and the Jack. You ask them which card remains and they will say the Eight. You continue with "So you picked Diamonds as the suit and Eight as the card." You can now let them open the envelope and they will be amazed to find the card they THINK they have chosen inside. What if they picked the 8 and 10 as there two cards? Simple! Ask them to choose 1 of the cards. If they choose the card that is not the eight, you ask them what the only card is left and they will say the eight, you can than ask them to open the envelope. If they picked the eight anyway, Bob's your long lost Uncle twice removed. If you practice the patter long enough, they will not notice too much that you are manipulating which suit and which numbers they are choosing. The Push ----------
