PATTER GAGS -------------- You will notice that the successful magician is always good at patter. This means the talk in between the tricks. The following two little puzzles are just a little something extra, you can throw in as patter. Whilst they are not really magic, they can be very amusing puzzles used in a magic routine. 1: Tell your audience that there are two clocks on a wall and that they are allowed to take only one of them home with them. The first clock is broken beyond repair. The second is an hour fast all the time and can not be changed to the right time. Which one would you take home? Most people will say the clock that is an hour fast because all they need to do is knock an hour off to know the right time. The correct answer would be the broken clock because it will ALWAYS be right twice a day. The fast clock will NEVER be right. 2: A man gets up for work in the morning. He lives in a 20 storey block of flats. Every morning he will set off for work and travel all the way down in the lift from the 19th floor. However, upon returning from work, he will always travel up to the 8th floor and walk the rest of the way to the 19th floor using the stairs. Why does he do this? You will get all kinds of answers ie he likes the excercise etc. When you have them thoroughly frustrated, you can then tell them that he's only 4ft 2 inches and can't reach the 19th lift button.
