8.3 Welcome to Microdot-II
8.31 Introduction
Microdot-II is an intergrated mail and news program for your Amiga containing many
advanced features, such as:
- Supports versatile mail filtering. Several filtering "terms" can be used individually or
together to sort messages into mailboxes. Handles mailing lists as easily as newsgroups
- Text formatting - Users can incorporate various fonts or font sizes, styles, colors,
and layout options to give messages the look and style of word-processed documents.
- Configurable Toolbar - Allows access to all common functions. Users can customise
the Toolbar and create new buttons. Users can also create their own commands/scripts/actions
to drive their buttons.
- Fully threaded mail and news display. Kill threads, fold them.
- Supports offline (download at once) and online (download on demand) news reading.
- Real messagebase, no single-file-per-mail
- Supports ESMTP, NNTP-XOVER and POP3-rev2 additions
- Full MIME-Support including charset handling and Mac BinHex decoding
- Active hot links - Launches your web browser, ftp or telnet from within a message by
clicking on the URL (http:, ftp: and telnet: supported with authentication).
- Multiple signature support. Also "assign" a follup/reply headers/footers to
specific mail folders.
- Internally recognises uuencoded and binhexed "old style" mails and converts them into
pseudo-Mime-messages
- Color-coded message labels - messages and groups are colour coded to inform a user if
they are "new", "marked" or "own message".
- Authentication support - Can be used with the Kerberos Authentication System and APOP for
increased security.
- On-line Help - Provides extensive AmigaGuide on-line Help.
8.32 Tips Of The Day (TOTD)
When you start Microdot-II for the first time you will be presented with a Tips of the Day
GUI which offer you tips about Microdot-II and some other general comments.
You can disable this by clicking on the checkbox to disable next time you load Microdot-II.
