In response to the demand to use the MicroTouch Touch Screens on the Amiga, in 1991 Dr Greg Perry developed an Amiga compliant driver for these popular screens.
The software consists of a main program GPTouch which receives input from the touch screen controller via a serial connection using the standard Amiga serial device or third party multiple serial cards. The input is then converted into standard Amiga mouse events.
GPTouch provides several types for mouse events specifically designed for multimedia and kiosk operation. The multimedia developer has full control over the operation and parameters of the touch screen using the accompanying Touch-Preferences program. By using the Amiga's multitasking environment and interprocess communication, dynamic control over the touch screen behaviour is provided.
The driver allows all modes of the Touch screen to be used. Control
