|REconomy:|N Farming, tourism and fishing are the main industries. in the 18th century Man was a big producer of tin but the resources are now used up. Some of the old mines are open for tourists.
|RHistory:|N Vikings conquered the island in the 9th century and it was a Norwegian colony until 1266 when it was sold to Scotland. It was handed over to the English kings 1377.
The Isle of Man have a government of its own, the Court of Tynwald and a legislative assembly, the House of Keys. 
