THE CD-32 OPTION, SERNET and other serial programs..... This is for the people with a CD-32 already. This is a serial connection from the serial keyboard socket on the CD-32 to the serial port on the Amiga. Having made the mistake of trying to use my CD-32 this way for getting games off cover CDs, my advice is not to bother. By their very nature, serial connections are a waste of time for this purpose, the rate of transfer is very very slow even on the highest baud rate settings. Read errors on CD's crash the system and with Sernet you don't know it's happened for ages because there is no data transfer monitoring by the program. You also use twice the electricity because you have to run two televisions and two computers, the CD-32 and the Amiga at once, each runing the serial transfer program. However you can save electricity and space by using the same TV with both the Amiga and the CD-32, switching between them as required like you do TV stations. You will need an aerial plug junction, usually very cheap to buy. This is usually not possible since both the Amiga and the CD-32 transmit to the TV on the same frequency causing massive ghosting and interference on the picture as the TV tries to display both screens at once. To get around this simply re-tune the CV-32 to a different frequency and then tune one of the TV pre-sets to pick it up on a different button/setting. This will allow you to flick between the two screens easily. To re-tune the CD-32, simply take a small flat-ended screwdriver with an insulated handle and use it to turn the adjustable frequency screw at the back of the machine next to where the TV aerial wire is plugged into the machine,(Pictured). Turn it only half a turn then re-tune the television till a picture is picked up again. Make sure you don't tune the CD-32 to a frequency used by a TV station like BBC2 or Channel Five. You will know because the TV picture will be awful on these frequencies.
