GUIJoiner Written By Ian Turnbull © 1997 EyeSoft Productions. Introduction: This is a small program that can join up to 15 files together using a GUI it is virtually the same as Commodore's/Escom's/???'s JOIN command in the C: drawer. This is because to cut down on program code (alright I could not be bothered working out how to code it!!) I decided to utilize the program as all that was wrong with it was you had to type in all the file names. Now it could not be easier, just click on a button on the GUI and using the requester select the file you want, then click on the the requester select the file you want, then click on the join button and bingo bongo, your files are joined. Installing: This program must be in your C: drawer if you want to use the tooltype function, this will not affect the functionality of the program but it will stop you using the SAVEDIR, SAVENAME and SAVEENABLE functions. The .info must also be in this directory. This program uses the JOIN command which it also assumes will be in the C: drawer, the program will quit if it cannot find the the join command. Usage: This is basically the join command with the added bonus of a GUI to save you from typing too much. Selecting Files: You can select the number of files you simply by clicking on the ? buttons on the left hand side of the window. This brings up a file requester window by which you can select the files you want joined. One word of warning you must have all files selected consequetively otherwise the file may not save properly. At the top of the window is the selector for the joined files final destination again just click on the ? button to select your destination. The JOIN gadget joins all the files together and then save it to the destination. The QUIT gadget does just that. The ABOUT gadget just gives you a little info about the program and me. To use this program you must have the JOIN command supplied on the Workbench disks from Commodore, this is not supplied in the GUIJoiner archive. ToolTypes: The following tootypes are supported: SAVEDIR: This is the default directory where the save requester will open up on. Default is RAM: SAVENAME: This is the default saving name for the save requester. The default is TEST SAVEENABLE: If this tooltype is set to ON then when you quit the program it will save the current save directory and save name to the tooltype so you will always start in the last directory with the last name you used. Default is ON. Tooltype must be in C: with the program. WhatWare?: This program is Postware. Just send ME a postcard of your town/city and tell me if you liked the program. The source code is not fit for public distribution I will one day tidy it up. Bugs: Any bug reports/improvements to the AUTHOR. Author: Ian Turnbull, 39 Kinnell Road Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland KY11 1BG. Things To Do: 1. Produce font sensitive code 2. Because this uses the Join command it is limited. So ideally I would like to code the join routine myself, so this is number 2 on my list. 3. I am going to register MUI soon and after that I will produce a MUI compatable version as well as the normal one.
