Eagle model for Real 3d. This is a model of the Eagle the multipurpose spacecraft from the sci-fi series 'Space 1999' for Real 3d. I have made it a year or two ago in V1.4 and recently i have upgraded for use with V2 and V3. (I have updated it in V3, but have not used V3 specific things and a quick test in V2 showed no problems) Setting up is strait forward. Just import with load object and load the materials with load matrials. Only the pad for the textures probably needs to be altered. The pad is now: work, anim-file/eagle/textures I like my models to be as accurate as possible. To do this i have made use of the well know model for Airfix. There had been one lying around in pieces so i measured it, put everything down in 8 A3 drawings and used them as reference. It is a proven method with works very well. For details not in the model i referred to photos's from the book 'UFO and Space 1999' from Chris Drake and published by Boxtree (ISBN 1 85283 393 9) , but mostly to very old photo i had lying around from a broadcast magazine. (most likely the Dutch AVRO bode), because there are several different configurations and it is difficult to pinpoint with's photo's are for with's model. Of course, being accurate also has it's drawbacks. You can forget about rendering this model on a stock 1200. My Eagle most have at least around 10 MB. I have tried to degrade the size by making the panels from the landing- gearboxes with bumpmaps, but i just can't get the right look so they remain objects. Also the beak remained the same. It would have been great to do it in B-splins, but again, i just couldn't get enough control it do it right, and still have a reasonable amount of savings on memory used. Despite these problems, i hope this model makes a nice addition to the growing collection of sci-fi models for 3D rendering packages. At least it is something else than the ***** version off the USS Enterprise. This model is Public domain. apart from a reasonable amount to cover the cost of coping the files no money should be charged for it. I have put a lot of work in it so be fair, if you use it give the guy who made it a little credit and don't act like you made it yourself. It may be altered for your own use but only the unaltered model with the accompanying files may be passed on. The copyrights to the original model belong probably to ITC. The original model design is from Brain Johnson. Designer for the Real 3d version : Albert Vermeule.
