This text and the images it accompanies were produced entirely by me: Chris Boyle Address: Kimberley House, Grinacombe Moor, Broadwoodwidger, Lifton, Devon, PL16 OES Great address isn`t it Reader Warranty In respect of all material which forms my reader contribution to Future Publishing`s Amiga Format I hereby warrant that:- (1) the material is original and does not infringe any other material or rights; (2) the material does not contain any material which is defamatory, obscene or indecent and is exempt from classification under the Video Recordings Act 1984; (3) that there are no legal claims against the material provided; (4) that I have full power and authority to provide this material to Future Publishing. That`s all the legal stuff out of the way. What prompted it anyway, contribution of nude photos of Fidel Castro? Neo Nazi propoganda? Who cares? Here`s a breakdown of the piccies I`ve sent in, all rendered in Real 3D 1.4 (not enough memory to use anything else) and touched up - where touching up was necessary - in DPaint IV. All were made on an unexpanded A1200, with a small B&W T.V. which explains the greyscale pics and the possibly offensive use of colour as well as the vertically stretched look which some may possess (telly thinks it`s a widescreen, so what is squat on mine will be supermodel skinny on yours).Where 24-bit versions are provided it`s because DPaint didn`t do a very good job of converting to 8-bit. Yeuch!: This is most people`s reaction to this one rather than its name, which is actually Neville. He/she/it is simply an unpleasant tentacle equipped Thing that doesn`t mind baring its internal organs to the world, and can hover disconcertingly in thin air. If you, as many people do, spot an uncanny resemblance between Nev` and your employer, take a holiday. 24-bit version provided as the background has a smoother gradient than 8-bit Neville: Same as before obviously but a different view giving a nice close-up of the head, among other bits. Mask: I`m still trying to do a good looking head that doesn`t need tons of memory to render, in the meantime however here`s an interesting looking face which as the name suggests, resembles a mask. Choppa: Look familiar? It`s another model of a design by Masamune Shirow, this time from his original Dominion Tank Police manga. It looks like just another big stompy Japanese robot type thing but that big long bundle thingy sticking out from behind it is a pair of counter rotating rotor blades. Yes, its a helicopter! A bit of a silly design maybe but Dominion is a comedy so it is forgivable, after all the star of the comic is a 5 ton `pocket tank` little bigger than a U.S. Army jeep. If anyone is still using Real 3D after the Cinema 4D coverdisk, I`ll send in the model of this one once it`s finished. P.S. The peculier and slightly rude looking thing that constitutes the right arm is a huge (30mm)gun...apparently.I suppose the shell/armour thing it`s in would make it more aerodynamic. What the bit on top would be is anyone`s guess - I don`t make `em up, I just copy `em...with considerable skill. NoRotor2: This is a late addition, the interesting name is the one I used when rendering it because the first render was a bit dark and the background black, as a result the rotors vanished into blackness. Dunno what the background colour is but from my memory of the RGB value I would guess sort of orangey browney. If I`m wrong please tell me.
