Short: MSX emulator (v1.3), req. 68020/OS2.0 Author: h.guijt@inter.nl.net Uploader: h.guijt@inter.nl.net Type: misc/emu fMSX Amiga is an Amiga port of fMSX UNIX. It emulates the MSX computer system. The emulation requires an 68020 and the v36 OS (or better). Fastram is not required but essential for good performance. 'MSX' is an 8-bit computer system with surprisingly good graphics and sound capabilities. MSX emulation is far easier than C64 emulation and can therefore be done with very good result; however, the results look far better than (for example) Spectrum emulations could ever hope for. In fact, some MSX games are on par with Amiga games when it comes to graphics and playability! Several MSX pictures have been uploaded to aminet (pix/illu/msx_emu.lha). Depending on the task at hand it is about as fast as a real MSX on my a4000/30, sometimes even a tad faster. The MSX1 system is completely emulated. Many MSX2 features are also supported, and some MSX2 games (though not all) are in fact playable: Metal Gear, Firebird, Vampire Killer and Kings Valley 2 MSX2 fall in this category. New features in this release include extensive tape support, the ability to create diskimages, sprites in screen 7, and many bug fixes (the important of which is that fMSX will no longer hang while changing screenmode). Many games for MSX are available through FTP or WWW. Sitenames can be found in the documentation.
