Cubic - Conceptual proposals for the next generation PowerPC Amiga interface Software: Let's face it, the Amiga could be the fastest computer in the world with the best graphics and sound, but if no one develops for it, it's useless. Despite the fact that some people defend the quality of Amiga software with comments like; "but we don't need Word, we have Final Writer..." I personally think that Amiga software is in the dark ages compared to the Mac and PC, and THIS IS the ONLY reason why the Amiga hasn't been fully established as a serious machine. It has nothing to do with the fact that it was dubbed as a games machine in its early years, it was due to the lack of RECOGNISED software developers (Adobe, Microsoft, Macromedia, Netscape etc.) that caused this, not the presence of developers like Team17, Psygnosis, Bullfrog, Bitmap Brothers etc. Just to make it clear, I think the Amiga has some isolated pockets of damn fine software; Lightwave , Final Writer, PageStream, Scala, but hey wait, you can now buy these pieces of software for the Mac and PC! In fact they have more updated versions than their Amiga counterparts, so actually we have NO enviable software AT ALL now, do we. That said, this pictures gives you an idea of what Photoshop would look like on an Amiga running the Cubic interface, if only.
