This file lists the changes from my previous Amiga port of Samba (which was version 1.9.15p8). 1. The "PROC:" assign isn't needed anymore :-) 2. The need for the "TMP:" assign can be removed now since Samba now reads the TMPDIR environment variable. The command "Set TMPDIR /T" before starting "nmbd" and "inetd" should do the trick. 3. "nmbd" works in stand-alone mode now, and I suggest starting it from your "startnet" script. Remember to remove any entries for "nmbd" in your "inetd.conf" file. 4. smbd now reports the correct amount of free disk space to people who connect. The block size is still wrong, though, but I think this is caused by ixemul.library or limitations in the SMB protocol. 5. Fixed a Unixism in "smbclient". When sending WinPopup messages, it now tells you to press Ctrl-\ instead of Ctrl-D to end your message. 6. All the binaries now require ixemul.library 45.0. 7. Samba seems to be a little faster now. Also, the binaries are mostly smaller. 8. The example lib/smb.conf shows one way of receiving Winpop messages. Check the installation notes. It also includes "read prediction = yes" now. This speeds up transfers by about 35 %. 9. Launching external programmes should work now. Although "smbrun" still doesn't work, Samba doesn't use it anymore. 10. The default place for access logs has been changed from "var" to "log". NOTE: Lots of things have changed in Samba since version 1.9.15p8, in particular in nmbd. You should read all the documentation again. Default values have changed for many smb.conf parameters, for example.
