30/10/1996 This file is here to tell you how to make your own AF Icons in the same style as I have. You will require a paint package similar to DPaintIV and you also need to have NewIcons installed on your system. There is a copy of it on AFCD5 (version 3) and a patch for it on AFCD6. installed on your system! Version 3 is on AFCD5, and there is some kind of update on AFCD6 that you may need to install as well. If you are designing an AF Icon for a drawer (e.g. a drawer for your excellent Worms level submissions.) Load up the file called 'Icons for AFCD' in the Icons components drawer into a paint package similar to DPaint. Go to about the bottom of the page or until you see an icon labelled with something like 'Non-Root Drawer' written next to it. This will be your template. (Note that if you intend the drawer to be on the root directory of the CD, there is another similar icon in this file which is purple, and you should use that as a template, but ONLY if it will be on the root directory!!) draw(er!) a small picture which fits inside the Icon border and is roughly in the centre which represents what is in the drawer (e.g. a Worm.). When you have done it on TWO of the icons, one for a clicked icon, the other for a non clicked icon, go to the very bottom of the page. You will see a little AF logo on a red diamond shaped image. Note the small note and diagram I have made to show you EXACTLY where the little logo goes, and place it in the same place on your new icon. You should always do this last, as the AF Icon is not supposed to be obscured by your artwork, so despite the fact the drawer images already have one, just place a brush on top of it again when you have finished, just to make sure. Save the icons as brushes, including the border around the edge. Then you can use the 'inject brush' program supplied with NewIcons to copy your two brushed into an Icon. Instructions for Injectbrush are included in the Newicons documentation. If you are designing a file, e.g. the actual Worms level, then follow the same process as above, but near the bottom you will find two blank empty borders. Draw both of your Icons in these, and then put in the AF Icon in the bottom right as described above and in the actual picture. There are a few brushes which might come in handy when designing your icons e.g. joysticks, Credit Cards etc. in the Icons components drawer. You can use these on your Icons if you want. Finally, I realise that reading this has driven you mad, and that you don't understand it etc. If you have completed this horrific process successfully, and you have half decent English skills, I would appriciate it if you could re-type this in an understandable way for the benefit of other readers. Please send your document on disk, and, if possible, with an icon you have designed (Just to make sure you managed to interpret the above correctly.)to this address: Gareth Young 5 Spindletree Drive Oakwood Derby DE21 2DG and if its any good I'll give it to AF so they can change the document. Thank you for trying to read this, Gareth.
