AFExtractor User Documentation Version 1.0 Programmed and designed by Oondy of Q-Group for Amiga Format. INTRODUCTION Hello fellow Amiga Format readers! Those days of painfully extracting the coverdisks off these CDs are over, with this super-great program written by yours truly. One simple program is used to easily extract each coverdisk to your liking. The program can be configured to your tastes, and is so easy-to-use, even a horse could use it. STARTING THE PROGRAM For once in Amiga programming history, a program which works well on all Amigas, including Workbench 1.3 or below. No painful hard disk installation is needed - you can run it straight from the CD! Double-click the appropriate icon for your machine to start. USING THE PROGRAM There are two versions of the same program - one for any version of Workbench 1, and one for Workbench 2.0 or higher. Although they operate completely different, they are just as simple to use. WORKBENCH 1.3 VERSION Upon starting the program, a small window will open with a brief message saying that you're missing out on bigger things :). Press RETURN to begin extraction. A simple menu will appear asking you to make an option. Simply choose disk to extract by typing its corresponding number and pressing RETURN, and follow the prompts. If you chose the Subscribers disk, the program will ask you for the password. To exit the program, type Q at the menu and press RETURN. WORKBENCH 2.x/3.x+ VERSION This version of the program is considerably better than the other version. It features a font-sensitive user interface and many more options and configurability to suit your extracting needs. A graphical representation of the window is shown below (excuse the artwork): /===+===============================\ Click to quit -->| o | Amiga Format Issue 90 | +---+-------------------------------+ | _________________________ | Click to change >| Disk : | AF90a : | disk to extract | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | | | Disk Information | | /---------------------------+---\ | | |This is a really super disk| @ | | Gives information| |and you should extract this| @ | | about the disks >| |now! | @ | | | | | @ | | | | +---+ | | | |_^_| | | | | v | | | \---------------------------+---/ | | | | /-----------\ /-----------\ | Begins the ___> | | Extract | | Quit | | <-- Quits program extraction ~~~> | \-----------/ \-----------/ | | | \===================================/ That describes the basics. In the windows menus (hold the right mouse button) are a few more features: PROJECT MENU About - describes a few useless things. Quit - exits the program. DISK MENU Extract - starts the extraction process Destination - allows you to change the destination drive OPTIONS MENU Quiet - toggle this on to suppress help windows which may appear Check Disk - toggle this on to make the Extractor check the destination disk. This is a safeguard and should be on "just in case". Exit When Done - set this on to make the Extractor quit when an extraction has been completed, regardless of any errors that might occur. Save Settings - select this to save the settings to ENVARC:AFExtractor.cfg. And that's about it. All gadgets have keyboard shortcuts - just press the corresponding letter on each gadget that is underlined. Pressing ESC will also quit.
