What is Genindex ??
===================
A proggie for generating aminet style index pages for Amiga WWW sites.
Well, a bit more like the amigaguide ones on the CD's anyway.
....now with flashy gadtools interface with lots and lots of things to click
on. You can now control almost every aspect of it's output !!

Menu: @{"About" link main}

@{"Mailing List" link list}

Gadgety things:
Listview with words in it. A list of saved configs to click on.
Clicking will load up a new config for you.
String gadget under listview The filename you are generating. Defaults
to 'gen-index.html' for my own reasons ;-)
.readme Only process files with readme's, aminet
style.
All Process all files, including the ones
without readme's.
Hidden Currently 'hides' the generated filename.
I'm sure it was supposed to do something
else though.
Width Number of columns you want the program to
attempt to generate.
Cycle Gadget, Ibrowse/Aweb/etc Choose your browser..
Test Send a test arexx message to your browser,
telling it to load your genindex'd file to
check it.
Generate Chug on your hard disk making up the file
you chose in the string gadget earlier.
File_ID.diz Looks for files without readme's, and looks
in the archive for a file called file_id.diz,
then extracts it, and renames it as a readme !

=============
Custom Config
=============
This is broken into two main sections. A whole bunch of tick boxes next to
sliders and the rest. The sliders choose the positional order of the output
you want to generate, and the tickboxes say 'yeah, this bit'. You could of
course switch all the tickboxes off, but that wouldn't be very usefull ;-)
Yes, I am aware that sliding the sliders causes some other tickboxes to
switch off. This is due to you telling the program to generate two items in
the same position, which it has trouble doing. Just sort with the sliders,
then click the tickboxes, ok ?
The text display at the bottom displays the order the fields will be
generated in for the final output.
Filename The filename to click and download
Size Displays the filesize. Note, if on 'all' mode, it
will happily detect directories and stuff, but for
some unknown reason can't figure out the size of the
open file it's generating ;-)
Date Errrrm, the file date !
Short Opens up the .readme file, and displays a clickable
readme based on the 'Short:' field, a la aminet.
About(string gadget) Displays 'About' instead of going into the readme,
for a clickable readme, with no 'Short:' information.
The string gadget allows you to change 'About' into
something less meaningfull, like 'click here for the
readme file'. Ideal if you havn't got a proper 'Short:'
line in the .readme.
Icons Someone asked for this, but I can't remember what I
was supposed to do with it. Sorry.
Save Allows you to save the config you are working on.
Before Text on the output file that appears before the
'index' data.
After Text on the output file that appears after the
'index' data.
Parent Display 'parent' to be clicked on for parent directory.
No Gui Well, when it works, it'll allow you to just
generate the file without all that gui stuff.
Start html code to start the index list '
'
End html code to end the index list '
'
Break html code to put inbetween each list item. ''
perhaps.

This program is/was email-ware. If you use it, you are absolutely
required to email me: Braneloc@mirex.demon.co.uk
This has now changed slightly. You are still absolutely required to email
me, but I would really appreciate some money off you. Yeah, I know exactly
how you feel, but I did spend a bit of time on this, and I'm not charging a
fortune.

Slightly harder than before. All you really need to do, is to put an assign
in your user-startup file. Make sure it points at the genindex root
directory. Lets see. Errrm. Nope, thats it ! Sorry its so much harder
than the old version ;-)
Actually, it'd be a really good idea if genindex the file was in your
command path somewhere. Copy it to C: if you like. It'll still need the
assign to find the configs though.

1.0 Hanging around on the aminet CD's. Just a cli interface, you get
the output I thought was a good idea. Then people started
mailing me, wanting this and that added..
2.0 7/6/96 Main bit of This version.
You get a gui to play with.
2.1 Can't remember, but I did something important.
2.2 17/07/96 Did a bugfix, and (finally) added Ibrowse mode. YEAH !

upload to aminet.

Hiya, this is a standard registration document for nearly all software
written by me. It is quite simple really. Nearly all of my programs are
released as un-crippled shareware, but with a 'please register' feature
for regular users. (sorry..)
Registering is simple. Just send me money ;-) The recommended ammount is
£10 in UK currency, unless otherwise specified. I cannot accept stuff in
wierd foreign currencies, it takes ages to convert, and costs ME money.
Some of my programs are released as freeware, but I would appreciate an
email or a postcard letting me know that the effort wasn't wasted competely.
You will also need to send me the file 'S:Braneloc.key' which is required
for all my programs to run. The preferred method of sending it to you is as
an UUENCODED file across the internet. If you insist, you may send a floppy
disk containing the file. In fact, this is probably easier than sending
one physical post, and one electronic, but that's your choice. If you want
the file-on-disk and returned, please specify this very clearly. I'd MUCH
rather return keyfiles over the net.
Either way, when I have received the registration I will return the file
(updated) with your unrestricted access codes, and stamped with your name
and address.
If you wish to register multiple programs, not a problem. Contact me for
special rates.
Remember to include your name and address, and the name of the program you
are registering. This will be available as a version string.
version
Your updated keyfile will be good for any future versions of the program,
which will be available in the usual places. Software will first be
made available at my website address, or released to DraughtFlow BBS,
and uploaded to the aminet later. I may set up a mailing list for update
information if you request it. Go on..
Please support shareware. Remember, it is much better receiving 100% of £10
than 5% of £30-£40(or more) for commercial releases. Please support
shareware. Having people using your software is great, but receiving money
for it is better, and is likely to inspire more releases, more often.
Please support Amiga shareware.
